Biography
Hailing from an incredibly long line of royal Imperials as well as a shorter yet still notable line of inventors, the expectations pressed onto Tupelo since the moment of his birth were incredibly high, even if he was discredited to some extent by the royal side of his bloodline due to his lack of golden coloration. His father, being an exalt, had little time to allocate towards his son, so responsibility over him was passed on to his mother.
The majority of Tupelo's younger years were spent learning the art of inventing, and throughout those years he was given a steady stream of assignments instructing him to create various things. He would dutifully create each and every thing his assignments told him to, and the process of doing so was very helpful in helping him perfect his craft. Eventually, it was revealed to him that his final assessment would be to create something entirely new of his own volition, something built for a specific purpose created entirely of his own mind. He was then to present his creation to a royal court, and, if his creation was approved, he would then be finished with his studies and turned loose upon the world as a valued inventor, just like the other inventors in his bloodline. But, when the day came for him to present his creation... he disappeared.
He couldn't, and didn't want to do it. He didn't know what he wanted to make at all, and even if he did, he was sure the royals of his family wouldn't like it. He had convinced himself that they would look upon his creation with scorn, and that he would be labeled the sole failure among every other successful dragon in his bloodline. And, admittedly, he didn't want to be a highly revered, important inventor. He appreciated the lessons on how to create things, he did. But he wanted to create things for himself, and not have to worry about if everything he made would be up to par on the expectations of other incredibly important dragons. If he was going to make things, he wanted to make them without having to worry about those golden glares.
So he ran away, disappearing into the swamps of Sornieth. His family searched far and wide for a year and half, looking for him as best as they could, but whatever tracks he may have left behind as indications to where he went were completely erased, and no one could find even a single lead as to where he may have run off to. It was a severe tragedy to them, but to Tupelo, it was nothing short of a miracle that he had managed to vanish with such expertise.
He spent a while wandering the swamp he had ended up in, thinking hard about where he would decide to live, and what he would decide to do. But as he pondered, he came to realize that the swamp he had stumbled into was the perfect home for him. Other dragons may be repelled by the biting bugs and the dangerous fauna, but to him, it was home. He built a house next to the water, and in that house he continues to remain, living out his days in peace.
At least, until a specific Pearlcatcher decided to bother him...
