P E T R I C H O R
salt of the earth
════════════════♾️════════════════ Petrichor was shaped from the earth itself by the Earthshaker. His purpose is to face the Taking. New to the world, Petrichor is still raw; unknowing in many ways, yet filled with ineffable purpose. During the Dustcarve Dig - a Sornieth-wide effort - thousands of Clans answered the call. Each assisted in their own way: Some flew resources, blasting powder and rope and rations, in supply lines spanning the continent. Others lent their claws and magic to the dig itself. The Daemon's Lair lent dragonpower in all the ways it could. While the Daemon Lair lives both below and aboveground, the Earth magic that shaped its tunnels can be completely attributed to Antares. In her untested youth, Antares was brimming with power, and on her joyous initiation into Daemon's Lair, her gift to the Clan were the cliffside tunnels that the whole Clan now utilizes to fullest degree. She sang the tunnels into place, and afterward, collapsed into a sleep for seven days and seven nights. Now much older, her magic has only refined and strengthened with age; whenever the tunnels need expansion, Clan members approach Antares, often plying the enigmatic Nocturne with offerings and gifts. Solitary and fixated on finery and riches, Antares is somewhat vain; her skills are undeniably real, however, and she remains in excellent standing due to her reputation for unwavering support of the Clan and its efforts. Aurum, meanwhile, while mighty and renowned for her savage nature and fighting prowess, cannot sing the earth into shape any more than she can draw water from a stone. Aurum is a colossal titan of gold and packed earth; more metal than flesh, it's difficult to tell how far down the hardened gold goes. Some say it's only scales-deep, while others say with quiet certainty that she's gold down to her blood, where ichor runs through her veins. A warrior by trade, Aurum defends the Clan and hunts for resources in various Coliseum-lands in Sornieth, working with her mate - Archon - and dreamweaver Selene in a team called the "Suns and Moon." Young and magic-less, Dulce has had no part in the earth's shaping, and very little to do with her birth flight at large; the hedonistic sort, she favors finery and feathers much more than dirt and stone. Despite her natural coloration - "blood and dirt," some might phrase it - she prefers to lean more into the chocolate and cherry nature of her identity. Dulce spends most of her time crafting delicacies of sugar, chocolate, and various fruits; she takes plenty of pleasure in turning unlikely ingredients into excellent dishes, and in service to the Clan, cooks and bakes for feasts and occasions. Her largest interaction with the Earth from whence she came is the occasional clay-baked entree. Altataeus - the ever-travelling, ex-Moon of the lair - returned to the Clan on quick wings at the Earthshaker's call. All three of the Earth - Antares, Aurelia, and Dulce - answered. With them, he flew to the dig site. Dulce cooked: Stretching rations to feed thousands of hungry dragons, joining the team of ramshackle Earth-element chefs making sabbatical. Aurum dug, with all her strength, massive and unwavering. And Antares sang the earth down, down down. Through it all, Altataeus flew, silent, and watched. Eyes gleaming and Wind magic thrumming in his veins, he knew as they drew closer, closer, ever-closer to something new. And, when the cavern full of Obelisks finally opened up to the faithful, Altataeus welcomed Petrichor into the world. |
