Biography

Solis was powerful. Too powerful.

She possessed fire magic like no other, and her eyes literally burned with fire. She was powerful, yes, but she couldn't control it, which was why she was currently fleeing the Ashfall Wastes. She caused too much destruction.

She didn't kill anyone or anything sinister like that, but she has accidentally burned down buildings, workshops and even unintentionally injured some dragons. Once, she accidentally burned a small hatchling – something she still feels terrible about to this day. But she caused enough damage to be chased out of her home forcibly, it was either this or face prison.

She never intended to cause so much trouble, but yet, the fires within her raged eternal. She would miss Ashfall, but perhaps it was better if she left. She'd have gotten tired of herself too.

That's why she was going to the Starfall Isles – a place that revered magic. Not that the world didn't already, but those of the Arcane were magic fanatics which, in hindsight, made sense, considering their whole shtick was magic.

When she arrived, she was surprised at the beauty of the land and how openly the magi there practiced, and how dedicated they were to it. The dragons here were more quiet and reserved than in the Ashfall Wastes, but they were still friendly nonetheless. On her journey to the Starfall Isles, she met a dragon named Python.

“I sense great power within you.” He had said. “But you are still unable to control it...hmm. Very well.” He spoke with authority, “I will train you.”

And train they did. She would move around a tiny flame and try to burn targets with accuracy, something she initially struggled with but soon got the hang of. Python assured her that she was doing great and that she just needed time and practice.

Her next exercise was more difficult – control a tiny flame to spark a candle, and nothing more. She had a surprising amount of difficulty achieving this, but soon enough, whether through practice or luck, she had done it.

After that, she was tasked to do the same thing, but with more candles, and Python had her go back to controlling a tiny flame into targets for accuracy while trying to ensure the flame didn't burn out or grow too big. She felt her control growing exponentially, and she wasn't having as many “accidents” anymore.

“Yes, indeed, you are powerful,” He had told her one day after training, “perhaps the most powerful dragon I've ever met.”

Solis knew she possessed great innate talent, but being the most powerful dragon Python has ever seen? In the arcane territory, no less?

“Ah, I sense your doubt.” Dang Python, he was a mind reader. Quite literally, it seemed. “But it's true. Your eyes, you might not know this, but we call eyes of your type Primal. Those who have them seem to channel great abilities, seemingly from the gods themselves. There is much speculation about how and why, but one of the most common theories is that the gods wanted ambassadors of sorts on Sorenith.”

She had no words. That would actually make sense as to why she was so destructive with her power before. It still seemed surreal and a bit like a long-shot that she was chosen by the gods, but as Python had continuously told her, normal dragons don't have the magical aptitude she does, even the most adept magi didn't.

“You have come a long way, Solis.” Python then said. “Be proud of yourself for how far you've come.”

And he was right, she did come a long way. Thanks to him, she could control herself much better now, and she had become a mage who (well, sorta) knew what she was doing.

She had found her true home, and her true companions. And she couldn't be happier for it.
