Stanley

Stanley He/Him Archeologist Stanley is stuffy and absent-minded, though generally well-meaning, well-spoken, and approachable. Being an Earth Obelisk, he's taken interest in "digging up" the past that he's missed out on so much of. Thusly, he's an archeologist, the very model of a modern one!...or at least, he certainly tries to be. While well versed in many other academic and historical fields, he actually knows very little about archeology itself. He took up the position under the assumption that, given he knew so much about so many things already, learning about archeology on-the-job would be a cinch. That was years ago. Progress has been slow.

To his credit, Stanley's inaptitude in the field does little damage to his confidence. He babbles so much when describing his work, findings, etc., that despite usually being incorrect, most people can't help but be convinced that he knows the subject. Most of the other members of the clan aren't really interested in archeology, and thus haven't learned enough about it themselves to realize how regularly wrong he is. This aids him in holding on to the position in more ways than one: in addition to no one growing wise to his missing knowledge base, no one has realized the clan doesn't even really need an archeologist. The clan has never been in need of archeological research as a means to an end, so his work, even if it's correct, doesn't aid the clan in any substantial capacity. But, in fairness, Stanley probably hasn't realized this either.

   1. Yes, I know, Orion's time on the show isn't fondly remembered by most, which is to be expected; simultaneously, the voice he used for Tiberius was very fun, and it's the kind of voice that I would imagine Stanley having.
2. Stanley's personality is based on the Modern Major General trope, with a bit of Absent-Minded Professor mixed in. His name is taken from the trope namer, Major General Stanley.
