”Time flies over us, but leaves it’s shadow behind.” - Nathaniel Hawthorn

Lorelei was one of the statues that was found underneath the earth during the dig that was founded by Velya. Though she didn’t know this at the time, there where various amounts of dragons helping out to uncover what was hidden below. The Obelisk at the time was still a statue as she was picked by a dragon that hailed from the shadowy planes of the Tangled Woods.

The wildclaw known as Dreama was intrigued by the dig and went over to the Earth territory to find out what secrets where unearthed, and to her pleasant surprise, she was there to find statues as large as dragons at the bottom of the cave. Quickly thinking, she knew that she wouldn’t be able to bring this dragon statue back to the Valley herself. So she sent word back to Prism, via courier dragon, to come out to help her.

The plan to bring the statue back to the Foxfire Bramble was a slow process as they had to stop every so often to rest up. Dragging a statue through the rocky terrain of the Earth flight was not the most ideal of situations, as it would get stuck on everything.

“Remind me why you wanted to bring this statue back to the Valley, Dreama?” The Imperial knows as Prism asked the wildclaw next to him. “Hm? Oh! Well just think about this, Prism, this statue was found in the bottom of a earth cave, for all we could know this could be a earth artifact!” She said excitedly, with her claws moving around as she talked. Prism rolled his eyes, knowing that at this point, he wasn’t going to get a direct answer as to why Dreama wanted to bring this earth relic back to a clan that was a devout shadow clan.

“Well, you do know that Umbra is gonna want a answer as to why we have a….earth relic in a clan that is loyal to the patron of shadow herself.” The Imp said as he looked towards the statue. From what he could tell, it looked like a tundra, or one of those ancient breeds he has heard about. What where they called….? Gaolers! The dragons that hailed from the icy depths of the frozen realm of the Icewarden’s lands.

Dreama waved the Imp off with her claws as she wrote notes in a book that she held. “Don’t worry Prism, I’ll talk to her about what happened at the dig site. And why we have a statue. For now, let’s rest. We got a long way to go.”

The following morning, Prism and Dreama woke up early, before the sun had rose to its highest in the sky, and shared some breakfast that Prism had caught. It wasn’t as good as the meals back home, but it’ll do till they get back to the Tangled Wood at least. The two dragons moved slowly though the day, as the statue slowed them down.

It was about mid-day when they saw the gloomy forest that belonged to the Shadowbinder, and their home. The two dragons shared a look, and nodded to each other. ’Almost home.’They both thought to themselves. It wasn’t long till they got back into the shadowed forest, with Prism dragging the statue behind him, and it getting caught on every fallen log, but he pressed on. When they did get back to their clan camp, it was already night.

“I’m never doing that again.” Prism humored Dreama after he dropped the statue off where Dreama has her small den. Both of them noticed Umbra come out of her den, but both dragons where too tired to talk about the journey that they had.

“I know that you want to talk to the both of us, Umbra, but may we please rest and talk to you tomorrow morning?” Dreama asked the black dragon in front her. The black guardian nodded, “Go rest, and get something to eat. We’ll talk more about what the two of you brought us.” The guardian spoke, before she went back into her den for the night.

The two dragons nodded and got some food that was in the clans stores before they eventually decided to call it a night.

In the dead of the night, nothing made a sound, save for the snores of the dragons that where currently sleeping, deep within the tangled woods. Through the shadows of the forest, the moon shone through the leaves of tall trees before it eventually hit the statue that Dreama and Prism had brought back from the dig site. Though, what they didn’t know was that statue was a living dragon, just in suspended animation.

The sounds of rocks crumbling away were heard on deaf ears as a adult dragon was revealed to be the statue itself. The dragon known as Lorelei took her first steps into the world hesitating at first, for she had no idea where she was. As all she saw around her was shadow covered trees, with the moonlight streaming through the leaves.

Lorelei heard the sounds of movement and she took of in fright, the only thing that was left behind was the remnants of stone from her statue self. Lorelei took to the skies, on wobbly wings, though she eventually evened out on the wind current, she couldn’t keep in the sky, and she eventually fell back down into the earth. The fallen dragon, slowly stood up and crawled over to a nearby cave to care for her wounds.

Thankfully, when she fell, her wings where not damaged.

Prism woke up to Dreama yelling way to loud in the early hours of the moning.

“Dreama, what in the name of Sornieth are you yelling about?” Prism spoke coming out of his den, his eyes widened at seeing that the statue they brought back, was gone only stone remnants remained. “Dreama, please tell me you know what happened to the statue…” He asked worried. “I don’t know what happened! I came out here to it looking like this!” The wildclaw replied to the imperial.

“Say Dreama, did you happen to notice anything weird about the statue? Like it looked more…like a dragon that a statue?” He asked her. “Prism, you can’t expect me to believe that you think a dragon came out of that stone statue.” Prism looked at her with a pointed look.

“You actually believe that a dragon did? Okay fine, how in the eleven are we gonna track this dragon?” She asked. “First, we have to talk to Umbra, then we will find this dragon, okay?”

The two dragons walked over to their leaders den, but before they could enter, the skydancer Artemis, along with Umbra stepped outside of the den. “Apparently, Artemis has a report of a trespassing dragon on our territory. We are going to find them.” Umbra said, as Artemis led them through the undergrowth of the Foxfire Bramble.

“Umbra, we might have a situation…you know that statue me and Prism brought back? Well, Prism seems to think that a dragon was that statue and came alive while we where all asleep.” Umbra hummed in thought, but said nothing. Dreama and Prism gave each a look, but didn’t say anything for Artemis stopped them.

“This is the last place that I tracked them, I must go and do a patrol around our boarders. Be seeing you guys back at camp.” The skydancer said, before vanishing into the deep woods.

Umbra turned to Prism and Dreama. “We don’t know what this dragon is capable of, let’s take it slow, and try not spook them.” The black dragon said. Prism and Dreama nodded. The three dragons approached the clearing that held the cave where Lorelei was. They slowly approached, not showing any ill intent.

Lorelei slowly came out her hiding spot, hearing a audible gasp come from the wildclaw. “So you where right, Prism.” The wildclaw said to what she assumed to be Prism. “I told you, Dreama. You didn’t want to believe me,” The Imp said with some smugness in his tone. Umbra gave the two dragons a look, that told them to stop talking.

“Sorry about them, now who are you?” She asked the dragon in front of her.

“My name is Lorelei,” She started. “I come from deep beneath the soil of Sornieth, created from the Earthshaker himself. I was one of those statues that was in the hidden city, though only just recently did I awaken.” Lorelei spoke.

“The Eathshaker called us ‘The Obelisk’.”

Umbra nodded to her, while Dreama was busying taking notes in her book, and Prism was wondering why a deity created a new dragon, was something coming to the world of Sornieth?

“Lorelei, would you like to stay with us? Perhaps you could tell us more about your kind, if you wish. Once you are more comfortable, of course.” Dreama asked, her curiosity killing her.

“Maybe once I grow comfortable with living amongst others, I will tell you more.” The Obelisk replied to the wildclaw. “There is much I need to learn about the world, at the current moment.”

”As the Leader of the Valley of Shadows, I welcome you into the clan.”
