Drip, drip, drip
Camo yawned, the navy spines on his back flexing up as he stretched. The empty cave was filled to the brim with shadows, and long, mighty stalagmites let water drop to the cold floor below, causing ominous sounds that would make even the biggest Guardian shiver.
Camo wasn't shivering though. No, he was more annoyed than frightened by the noises. He was annoyed at everything.
His clan had-well, his king-told him to take the Dormant Dragon statue down to the clan's caves. There he would guard the large hunk of rock till it split open and released the dragon inside.
Camo knew his clan wanted this dragon to hatch in touch with the Earth Deity, but he thought this was a bit much. All they had to do was set it in the nursery and have baby soft Aspen look after it.
He shook his head, moving his frozen talons from the cold floor. He felt bad for the negative thoughts on his clan mates, but he was mad. He'd much rather be up on the surface, talking with his fellow warriors and flirting with the many dragons still looking for a mate.
He rubbed his arms and examined the statue closely. For a second he thought he saw it move, but afterwards it remained still. He took a step closer to it, slightly cocking his head as he studied the details. Much bigger than him, the dragon had an alarmingly scary expression and wicked fangs that looked frightening. Their horns were large, and their claws looked tough enough to break through stone with one swipe.
He bared his teeth and sat down, wrapping his body around himself and trying to get warm. His brown cape and gloves didn't do much to keep heat, so he tried to find a good spot.
He didn't find one.
He growled loudly, frustrated and tired. His tail flicked and his wings beat angrily. All there was rock, rock, and dirt. He wanted his warm nest.
His growl echoed around the cave, repeating itself many times before going silent. He stood up, glaring out of the cave and at the pine trees outside.
Behind him, a snarl cut through the silence and echoed softly.
He whipped around, nearly tripping over himself. Nothing appeared to be there, only the statue.
Wait...
The statue's head had moved.

Thump thump
Thump thump

What is this? Why is my chest warm? Is there something inside of me??
Uck- I'm so stiff...I need air....I need to move.....

Camo watched in shock as the statue began to move, slowly moving it's head and grumbling. It's rock hard exterior began to chip and crack, and started to fall off of the thick fur beneath.
His breath was taken away as brown clay was replaced with steely gray. The color of ripe honeydew appeared as stones fell of the wings and chest.
He stood rigid, slightly shaking. The dragon finally broke free, stretching their-her-wings and arms. The fierce expression that had once been craved on her face was gone, replaced with confusion. She examined herself, checking her claws and looking at her wings. Her eyes were a brilliant cyan that seemed to glow in the darkness, and Camo was mesmerized.
The dragon took a few deep breaths and sniffed the air, turning in a circle before spotting the Spiral a few feet from her. She opened and closed her mouth, exposing her sharp teeth and tongue as she tried to talk.
After a few minutes of stuttering, she managed to spit out one sentence:
"Who are you?"

The young obelisk dragon followed the Spiral, Camo, out of the darkness and into the pine forest. She had so many questions, and she was so curious. All she could remember was pitch blackness, and then awakening to a dim cave. So, all she could remember was nothing and only what was happening currently.
Wait- Something lingered in the back of her mind. A voice...who's? The Spiral's?
She narrowed her eyes and tried to concentrate. All that happened was her hitting a tree in the middle of thinking.
Camo looked back as she shook out her head, grunting and wincing. He squinted his eyes as she then tried to eat the bark, only to end up getting a scratched tongue.
"Ow. Cama, why is this world so painful?" She said, looking at him with wide eyes.
The Spiral blinked. "First off, it's Camo, got it? Second...dunno kid." He turned away and began walking again. "All I can tell you is that it's gonna hurt more later on."
As they walked, the dragon examined the grass. She knew she didn't eat plants, that tall thing had hurt her before, but something caught her interest.
"C-...Camo? What's this?" She pointed a claw to the lush undergrowth, and he squinted and peered down. "An ant."
"No-" The dragon shook her head, grabbing the tiny bug and popping it into her mouth. "That."
Camo just stared at her for a second, then shook his head and looked closer. "What? The water on the grass?" She nodded quickly, and he shrugged. "They're dewdrops. Not that impressive."
She cocked her head, sniffing at the dew. "They smell sweet. I like them."
Camo nodded his head, walking farther away.
"You can call me Dewdrop." She said, and he turned towards her. "What?"
"My name...Dewdrop. I feel like its meant to be mine." She insisted, and Camo watched her with glimmering gold eyes for a moment. "I think it suits you." He smiled slightly, and Dewdrop grinned wide, feeling joyful. She managed to make him smile, and it was the greatest feeling in the world.
They continued on, and above, clouds grouped together like a clan of dragons anxious for a meal. They darkened, and suddenly flashed brightly, causing Dewdrop to jump and run closer to Camo.
He glanced back at her, then curled his tail around her right talon and pulled her closer to a thickly leafed tree. "Better take cover. I don't know if your prepared for what happens next." He glanced at the ground. "Even if you're a lightning dragon...pretty sad that she's frightened of actual lightning." He muttered, looking at the sky. She huddled in the grass and fidgeted with Camo's tail like a piece of string, seemingly too worried to hear his comment.
The Spiral didn't mind though. Even if she was ten times bigger than him, she was nothing more than a child. Not in an offensive way, no, she was just learning. Camo already felt a bond forming with her, and he thought it was odd. He had never felt like this for anyone. Only his brother and parents were close to him, but this dragon was a clean slate. Maybe she would see him differently, and not as the Spiral who panicked when his children were born and left them with his mate, never to interact with their life.

Thunder crashed through the sky, and bright white cracks threatened to break open the inky blanket above. Dewdrop watched with wide eyes, gasping. A voice whispered to her, and she perked her ears, turning to Camo. He didn't look up, and he didn't say anything. He looked lost in thought.
She looked at the sky again, and the voice whispered again.
My child...come to me-
No! Do not put her in danger, you bright eyed fool!

She turned her head, listening as the wind howled over the voice.
