Basque is an artist first and a butcher second, though he’s left using most of his free time to clean and dress the mealstock of whatever clan will have him at a moment. With a fierce temper and a total inability to feel fear, the his truest loves in life are fighting, loving, and whatever art he’s turned to that day. Basque’s long claws and tough hide form a deadly cocktail of brutality and rage when he’s in poor temper and given even a shred of an excuse. Having been thrown out of multiple clans for taking a friendly spar too far, Basque learned to keep his temper in check around kinsmen, leaving game, monsters, and ******** who tread his toes the only outlets for his energy. Basque is truly not to be defined by his temper, however: to those who have never met him in a fury remark that he is charming and friendly, if not somewhat withdrawn and spacy. Those who have gotten close to him without ever encountering his anger, a rare breed before he landed with the Toothsome Teratoma clan, would say he was more brilliant than the sun.

Some time around his fourth or fifth clan in under a year, Basque had developed some resentment for himself and stalked solitary through the world, eventually resting his head just about everywhere in Sornieth, the Tidelord’s domain excluded. Somewhere along the way, he picked up a few hitchhikers; that being, five mice and one rat. These little fellows, much to Basque’s surprise, brought him much joy and almost seemed as if they were trained in the arts of clownery and cleverness. Truly, they were feral escapees from a spectacle caravan that had met an ill fate, but Basque never cared nor knew. In fact, one day he had come across it, never noticing his little companions’ somber postures as he picked over what was left.

When he became a member of the Toothsome Teratoma clan, his last stop on a world tour of Sornieth due to fearing the plague lands, the fearless golden warrior-poet Basque was charmed by a strange little man, so very small for his breed. This was the nocturne Bigwig, who displayed an uncharacteristic capacity for spitting fury when a stranger such as Basque remarked upon his size. Basque was appalled when Bigwig cut back- informing Basque that, for an Obelisk, he was phenomenally small himself. In immediate response to such a remark, his rat and his mice scurried out of his clothing and onto the nearest stage- Bigwig’s forehead- and cavorted to soothe Basque. However, this was not needed. He found himself laughing, nearly crying, with how much affection and cheer he felt in his heart towards Bigwig. He did not know what made an insult from him different from an insult from any of the others he’d fought for words, but he knew he wanted to keep Bigwig around.

Bigwig never made any airs about changing Basque, taming his temper, having him stop fighting. Bigwig quite frankly never cared about that as long as it wasn’t directed towards innocents, and so took on training Basque in more… martial combat. Basque never could curb his sheer brutality, but Bigwig took a powerful weapon and aimed it in a way Basque never thought he could, because he had always been told he wasn’t able to and never would be. Bigwig was good for Basque’s sould, if not for his ego. Formerly seeing himself as a brutal, though brilliant, vagabond, Basque grew to see himself as some form of golden prince. In reality, his contribution to the clan was in small, artful trinkets that served as a bonus income for the clan as well as making dinners more enjoyable with stories and his mastery of food butchery and preparation.
