"I wan't to be free." The thought raged in her mind. It burned and tormented, but to no avail. A stone cold body cemented to rock, forever watching the world through unblinking eyes. "I want to be free.." The thought carried on, decades later. Weatherworn and broken, the gargoyle rested. Biding her endless time. People passed by, unaware of the statue's cold plight. "Why am I here?" A new thought arrived. It sparked something inside. Not hope, but a fire. A fire small fire inside. "Why did they put me here?" The questions came in. The burning fire spread, through veins once stone and a heart once cold. "Why would they do this?" With that in mind, the flames took hold. Scales once grey now vermilion and coal. People noticed the blood red statue. They pointed and laughed, with a smile on their faces. "I am here to be laughed at? To be a joke to others?" Eyes no longer grey, but flushed with rosy life, she put her head to one side in the first signs of life. "Why did they do this? Is it punishment for something?" Feet freed from stone, wings outstretched to the light. She roared with indignation at once being a prisoner for life. "I will find them? With my teeth and my claws?" The troublesome thought entered, making her fire turn to inferno. No stone any more, only a collar as a reminder. She took to the skies in the first flight ever. "They will be here somewhere?" She swooped down low, causing people to scream. A gargoyle alive and out for revenge. Scales of red, wings of coal, eyes flared with anger yet unknown. "I am free?" Her thoughts tried to say, as a net drifted over, entangling her completely. Claws as sharp as knives sliced through whatever could be found, rope and not rope, and red as her scales. Cries of monster rang out, echoing in her newfound ears. "I am monster?" The thought came and stayed. Her role seemed to have been just that, so she must be determined to play. More cries came forth, not of words this time. They hurt her hearing, but was it in a good way? "I am monster. I am free." It seemed to work, so why not go this way? Maybe these were the people who punished her for nought. "I am free?"
