Tsubomi was one of the oblelisk dragons uncovered in the Sornieth-wide dig. She remembers nothing from before she was frozen in rock, and she was very hesitant to join the other obelisks in exploring the world above them. For this reason, she stayed behind in the caves with an egg she found.

This was when she met Iwane, a strange gaoler who had been living in the caves for longer than she can remember. Tsubomi was taken in by Iwane's gazzling appearance and appreciated her hesitance to leave the caves as well. Tsubomi decided to live with Iwane in the caves for the time being, just until she gathered the courage to emerge from the caves.

She soon changed her mind, however, as she got closer and closer with Iwane. Their bond soon took a more romantic turn, and they became mates. Soon after, the egg Tsubomi had found hatched into a young obelisk. Tsubomi and Iwane named him Kyoryu and adopted him as their son.

For a while, Tsubomi was at peace. She loved her new family and the home they made in the caves, but soon something began calling her. It pulled her heart upwards towards the entrance of the cave. One day, she decided to finally take those first steps outside.

It was magical to her. Having no memories except for the dark, cold caves, the brightness and warmth of the outside world surprised her. She explored until she came across a lush forest. The vibrant greens and sound of rustling trees soothed a part of her that she had been unaware was empty. She spent the entire day there before returning to Iwane and Kyoryu, vowing to herself that she would come back soon.
The next time she left the caves, she tried to take Iwane and Kyoryu with her. Kyoryu was anxious to join the adventure, but it took a lot of convincing to get Iwane to even step one foot outside of the caves. They took their time going to the forest, and Tsubomi was happy to see Kyoryu enjoying himself by playing in the grass and leaves.

Iwane, however, did not appear to enjoy the trip as much. She cowered from the sunlight, which reflected off of her shining fur to an almost blinding degree. Tsubomi felt a little disappointed that she could not share her immense joy with her mate, but she also knew that she could not force Iwane to like this experience. She ended their trip early to spare Iwane any more discomfort, although she reassured Kyoryu that they could come back anytime they wanted.

Tsubomi still lives in the caves with Iwane, although her trips to the forest are becoming more frequent. Most times, Kyoryu joins her, and on the rare occassion Iwane will also opt in, although usually only at night. Tsubomi does not force anyone to join her, and is just as happy spending a quiet day to herself in the forest. Although she hopes, secretly, that the three of them might move to a place just a bit closer to the woods. But she knows the attachment Iwane has to the caves, so she knows that these journeys may be all she gets.

She tells herself that this is enough.
