Dear Mr. Vesotus, It has come to the attention of our dear MOTHER that you have an interest in the workings of our home. Undoubtedly because of mean-spirited rumors, you wish to investigate the tower and our party for yourself. We assure you on the behalf of our MOTHER that these are unsubstantiated. However, we understand that just our saying this does not mean much to some people. For that, we'd graciously like to extend an invitation for you to visit our lovely home and speak to MOTHER herself. We hope that by seeing inside our home with your own eyes, you'll be able to satisfy your curiosity about our inner workings. Naturally, our party is very exclusive. Please attend in your very best formalwear and remain respectful to both our residents and other guests. You will be allowed to interview any attendant that you please, as is your right to socialize with anyone who wishes, but please do not pry if dragons do not wish to speak. To enter the party, simply pass this letter to our dear Doorkeeper and he will verify my signature. Thank you for your cooperation, Conservator |
Vesotus Paranormal investigator Vesotus fashions himself as a "paranormal investigator," yet he really doesn't know what he's doing, and has barely ever had contact with the paranormal. Despite this, he has a reputation, and is quite good at figuring out mysteries that have haunted the dragons who call upon him. MOTHER's tower is an epicenter of rumors regarding hauntings and disappearances; the perfect place for Vesotus to investigate. The only problem: getting in is almost impossible. So Vesotus does what he does best. He tries to sneak in. This is not an easy task when he's a giant neon green ball of fur and muscle, but persistence pays off, so they say. After about a month of poking around and speculating, he gets a letter. It's not a threat on his life like he expected, though maybe in a way it was. But it was also a way in. Vesotus believed in the supernatural on all his previous jobs. It's what he did, he believed the people who came to him, and helped them fix it. But he also never encountered something truly paranormal. He'd never encountered something like this. He also never encountered something he couldn't escape. |

Vesotus expected a lot of things when he entered the tower. From the outside, it seemed bustling, filled to the brim with the sound of music pouring out of the windows and doors.
And yet, after the Doorkeeper let him in, it was.... empty.
The entrance had all the usual trappings of a high-class party, and indeed he could still hear the sounds of classical music coming from somewhere, but all the bustle of bodies and chatter was gone.
Correction: the hall wasn't empty. There was a young-looking Coatl peering over the edge of a refreshments table to stare at Vesotus. He cringed back under her strange gaze. This was his chance to interview someone on the inside, and he felt rooted to the spot. He wanted to run back out the huge doors he'd just stepped through. The Coatl snickered at him and then disappeared into a shadowed hallway behind her.
Thoroughly unnerved, but able to breathe again, Vesotus peeled himself from where he'd been frozen on the floor. He passed the table warily; the want to treat this as a normal party and take a drink warred with this instinct that he should not touch anything no matter what. He didn't take a drink.
A drink still came with him, though.
