Like many other dragons, Ashma decided to participate in the dustcarve dig to take a break from her day-to-day life. At the end of the dig, in the depths of Sornieth, Ashma and the other diggers came across a strange cavern full of statues. Tentatively, they explored the room and examined each stone creation. It seemed that they were the work of the Earthshaker. For what reason, Ashma wasn't sure. She was only sure that these things were not just statues. They were dragons.

Suddenly, the statue that she stood in front of began to fall apart. Its stone plates slid off, revealing green scales and brown fur underneath. When more pieces fell to the ground, the creature stretched its brown wings and flexed its long green claws. Ashma leaped back in terror, only to bump into a red dragon performing the same metamorphosis. In fact, all of the statues were becoming dragons.

Shrieks of terror and shouts of awe echoed throughout the cavern as the diggers met their new acquaintances. Ashma finally glanced up at hers. He was looking around in astonishment at the many dragons interacting in the cavern. However, when his eyes came across her, his whole demeanor changed, and he performed a graceful bow in front of the Nocturne.

"What the heck are you doing?", she questioned, her voice indicating slight disgust.

He lifted his head and looked into her eyes. Confused, he said, "I am bowing to thee who has rescued me. May I not bow to my lady?"

"Uhm...", Ashma uncomfortably backed away from the dragon, "Firstly, I didn't rescue you. I just found you. Secondly, you may not. Thirdly, I am not your lady, and I never will be!"

"Hmm, why can I not?"

"Because it's weird."

"Okay... "

The dragon sat down with his front legs at his chest and his weight balancing on his back haunches. His expression showed that he was pondering something deeply.

"There must be some fateful reason that thou are the first dragon to lay thine eyes on me in my living form, even if thou did not rescue me", the creature said,"I mustn't let thee leave without me."

The dragon gave a gentle nod to Ashma as his gaze turned soft like silk. Ashma was trying her best not to laugh, "Yeah, Sure. Whatever."


Since they met, Thaddeus(a name he picked up from one of the dustcarve diggers) has been following Ashma around as she teaches him modern social customs, especially boundaries. Thaddeus is also really obsessed with Prism Clan and the protection of its members, like REALLY obsessed, unhealthily so. He also has a crush on basically everyone but almost no one is interested, so, he's got that going for him. He's especially interested in Sunfire, but Sunfire puts up the act that he hates Thaddeus. Secretly, however, romance is blossoming between the two.

Update: It's been some number of years since the events of dustcarve dig. Although Ashma was annoyed by Thaddeus at first, she has come to love him like a brother. And they have fallen into an older sister, younger brother dynamic. Ashma is often the one to defend him if the need arises.

Thaddeus is less obsessed with Prism Clan, but he still considers himself the clan protector and has complete loyalty to the clan. He has sadly come to realize the harshness of other dragons, getting his heart hurt often when he attempts to befriend others. However, he still goes on with his efforts despite how others treat him.

He has also learned a bit about self-love, now adorning himself in rocks and crystals to represent his creation. His creation, he finds wonderous and beautiful.

Regarding his relationship with Sunfire, they have grown close in secret. Thaddeus must at some point realize that being in love with someone who pretends to hate you is not healthy.
