"In the forge, no one doubts my strength"

Haziel is an outcast among coatls, her faded plumage marking her as an omen of bad luck. She was born with light plumage unlike her dark brown nest mates and was quickly shunned, though not quite tossed out of the nest. Her father, unable to bring himself to disown his own child based on the superstitions of his mate simply kept her hidden from view, eventually giving her to an older, Guardian blacksmith named Hof as his apprentice.

Haziel spent her childhood in the forge, toiling away to keep the forge burning, the tools cleaned and the metal flowing. As Hof's apprentice she spent most of her time cleaning and tending to the coals over any actual metal smithing and she slowly grew to resent the guardian.

Secretly, she began to plot. Collecting the shed feathers she swept off the floor that Hof's phoenix dropped, she began to craft a cape to cover her own pale plumes. Once she had completed her craft she snuck away in the dead of night, determined to find someone who would actually give her a proper education in the art of sword smithing.

She didn't have to go far before she ran into an old bogsneak.
