Nix was, in theory, the muscle of the Crimson Vestige. She wasn't really a trained warrior, but she was a Guardian and considered it her duty to protect what was left of her clan. Most often, she would play decoy, attracting the attention of enemies while Rekka picked them off. But occasionally her own magic would come into play. Or more accurately, the magic of her charge: the enchanted diamond she wears around her neck. The diamond is actually a powerful relic of Ice, and while she protects it diligently, she isn't entirely certain how to use it. But the gem seems to have a mind of its own, and appears inclined to protect her as well; more than one desperate encounter was solved by a blizzard unleashed by the pendant.

Not every battle was won without casualties, however. After his injury Nix essentially took Kestrel as a second charge. She considers herself responsible for not protecting him in the first place, though no one else in the Vestige blames her for it—least of all, on the occasions he remembers the incident, Kestrel himself. But it is generally accepted that he benefits from having someone to keep him out of trouble, and as long as that situation persists, Nix is sure to be there.
