Shade renders them mutable in a way rarely seen: Mercy Liches are known to turn into mist when they risk being caught, and many can take on an animal or beastclan form alike to that of their familiar or a familiar they once had. Older Mercy Liches can can turn into almost anything they've encountered, but doing so pulls them ever more towards Shade's grasp and is usually the mark of a Mercy Lich soon to shed their physical form entirely to join the Shade.
Lamps: A symbol of learning, openness, bravery, exploration, humility, evenhandedness, and wisdom. Mercys bearing lamps are often especially isolated, even for their own kind, frequently choosing to pilgrimage to holy places or seek solitude, isolation and meditation. Mercys bearing lamps often prefer to keep to themselves, though most prefer to mislead or persuade interlopers away than to use force.

lore notes: Ruthven exudes Shade-touched disease and flames; her familiar, while immune to her fire magic, has been deeply affected by her Shade. To those that reside in territories where Ruthven is known to venture, it is said that if a pair of jackalopes appear with nearly identical markings, one sized much taller than natural, to avoid at all costs and to not engage. They are often accompanied by the smell of sulfur and rot and a thick black mist that rolls in quickly and lingers without a source of fire.
