While most of Gem's children have decided to go off to see the world, Tessa is the one who stayed behind. Originally she was too nervous and shy to leave the clan, but then Neil arrived and she knew she had a good reason to stay.
Tessa and Neil are in charge of caring for the hatchlings, a job they are exceptionally good at. They love every single hatchling that comes into their care, no matter the breed or the colour, and make sure they are all safe and happy. Tessa and Neil's own hatchlings are usually rather loud, both in volume and appearance, so it gives them plenty of practice.
Someday Tessa may decide to go out and see the world, but for now she's got her family, her mate, and her children around her, and that's good enough for her
