╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ Showa is one of the most renowned koi fish breeders in all of Sornieth. She operates a small koi farm nestled in the heart of the Snowsquall Tundra. Upon entering the area, you are greeted by the numerous snow-covered spruce trees that surround the farm, and a large pristine lake by the side. Several nets can be seen lining the edge of the lake; presumably used for the breeding of koi. It is completely quiet here, save for the occasional chirping of birds and rustling of leaves. Making your way past the lake, you arrive at a quaint winter cottage. A wooden sign that reads "Welcome to Showa's Koi Hatchery" can be seen hanging from the entrance. As you step inside, you are instantly met with a fragrant herbal aroma. At first glance, you can clearly see that the interior is well furnished; the chairs and tables all have a rustic feel to them, and the walls are decorated with many pictures of koi fish. You feel at ease; it very much resembles a cozy cafe. Just then, a female Skydancer appears from behind a door. From pictures you had seen previously, you recognise her as Showa, the famous koi fish breeder. She smiles sweetly and gestures for you to take a seat. You do, and a few moments later, she returns with a tray of piping hot tea. You take a small sip of the tea, and your eyes light up at once. It is unlike anything you've ever tasted before... Light, but fragrant and with a hint of chamomile. After you finish the lovely drink, Showa clears away the cups and walks towards the back door, again gesturing for you to follow her. Up till now, Showa appears to have not spoken a word... Is she perhaps unable to speak? Nevertheless, you decide to follow her through the door. What you see next is certainly a sight to behold. Numerous koi fish of different shapes and sizes are swimming around in large ponds. Most are of the white and red variety, but you can see some that are black or even gold in colour. However, what you find most striking is just how well taken care of these fishes are. Every single one looks immaculate and healthy; it is no wonder Showa is so famous among koi breeders. You can tell she really put her heart and soul into caring for them. Feeling indecisive, you ask Showa to help you choose one of her prized koi to buy. She smiles and after inspecting for a while, gently scoops out one of them and places it in a smaller tank. Up close, the koi looks even more radiant than before, its scales producing a dazzling iridescent sheen. Happy with the fish she picked, you agree to buy it. At long last, it is time to depart from the farm. With your newly bought fish in hand, you thank Showa and promise her that you will take good care of your new friend. The Skydancer chuckles softly and nods her head. Though she is beaming, you can also see a tinge of sadness in her eyes, perhaps because it is time for her to part with one of her beloved fish. You turn around and head back towards home, as misty clouds above start to cast their shroud over some of the frozen spruce woods. It has only been a while, but you already look forward to the day you will be able to return to this beautiful place once again. |
