Yunnan - a region known for its many tea cultivars

The clan of the tea leaf is one of those more peaceful clans who only engage in violence should it become absolutely necessary. Their reluctance to fight should not be mistaken for weakness however, as they train and hone their technique from a very young age.

For most clans, honor is earned though combat and conquest, but the clan of the tea leaf considers honor in a subtler way, mostly though the cultivation of the family tea. They believe that the drinking of tea is the way to connect with the water cycle from which their ancestor is said to have come. By boiling the water from the rain and steeping the leaves from the earth, they become a little closer to the cycle.

Passed down through generations, every family has a tea tree to which they tend and nurture. The larger the tree is, the older and more greatly respected the family is. The family tea tree is sacred, so families grow other cultivars so they can have tea every morning. This is another way to gain status, by creating a plant or blend which is particularly tasty. However, tea not made from tea leaves is not sacred at all.
