Lorn only knew the road. With his parents always traveling, always taking their children with them, this young dragon, the youngest in his big family, was gawping at the sceneries as they passed by. He was quite loved - maybe not as vibrant as some of his sisters and not a 'blessed primal' like his older brother, but his parents were always nice to him. Maybe because of his tender age, he was the one to listen to fairytales and actual stories about places his parents visited before he hatched, about grand clans, other lives, and of course, about the Earthshaker. The Father. His parents and almost all of his siblings set Him as their destination - it is the greatest honor, they would say. Not that Lorn didn't want to meet the Earthshaker, he did, but... he also wished to travel. There were many places he would have loved to visit. Not to mention, he heard that those who come to Earthshaker rarely come back. After separating with his parents and wishing luck to his siblings, he headed southwest. Lorn decided to land whenever he spots a worthy place, and of course he couldn't miss a whole flock of Pearlcatchers somewhat near the Observatory. Dragons who were coming to the Project willingly and moreover, were miraculously meeting its conditions were rare causes, and he immediately attracted Conduct's attention. Even while not having special talents, Lorn was quite confident and never considered himself useless. This attitude, along with unusual speech patterns, general knowledge of Sornieth he got from his parents, and sense of style didn't pass unnoticed by Resistance, as well. And they were fast - Lorn got enlisted. It's not like he believed everything right away, he was more of intrigued - it sounded like another fairytale, creepy bedtime story, though surprisingly elaborate. Could it even be? Could such Project even exist? And he was now a part of it..? He had to make sure himself, and there was a fitting role for him. Lorn knew he had charm, and if needed, he could be reliable, docile or enchanting. He pretends that being a companion and escorting imperious dragons is his job, and he is actually being paid for that. Approached by Conduct since his early days here, he pretended to be one of those forgetful dragons who don't know a thing, casually asking questions and confirming own theories. Of course, his opponents are quite careful with what they say, but sometimes words just slip. It's Lorn's role to pretend he didn't hear, didn't make it out, but he makes mental notes and then passes the information to those who may decode it. That's why he has to learn manners, poems, dances, art and all the things which could be useful during genteel social events. Being such a spy makes him very valuable and even while he believes anyone can do it if they learn, Lorn is still proud of himself. |
