The Youthful Emperor - Resentment

B I O G R A P H Y

Gale, also known as Resentment, is the rebellious portion of the Emperor soul. Taking on a more youthful appearance than that of their siblings, they are the tiny tenacious rebel of the fragmented emperor, choosing the pearlcatcher breed as their form in defiance of their old body. Unlike the others they are a fluid and energetic soul, ready to accept new ideas and challenges without thinking. Apathy and Resentment constantly clash on account of their polar opposite identities and it is often up to Patience to nudge them back together.

They posses the ability to witness the future actions of another upon meeting. Resentment does not have the best control over their skill, however, which often leads to them making hasty decisions based on brief glimpses; but in time they will grow with the help of Patience and Apathy. One would be wise to not underestimate them based on appearance alone. Resentment wields the elements of they and their siblings (lightning, ice, and light) in a far more wild manner than the latter two, and is fiercely protective of the Siblings' hoard of hatchlings.

B I O G R A P H Y

Every imperial knows the horror of the Great Emperor. From the moment they hatch their clanmates warn them of the danger of becoming One with one another, their parents instill their duty to die alone. It is their burden that no other dragon can carry or soothe. The poor imperials are terrified their whole lives until death, and then they are either scared, furious, or accepting. But not all heed the warnings and cries of terror.

They were considered lazy and foolish. A dragon with no motivation or purpose. They hardly cared for others opinion of them, they were content to simply live and exist, even to the detriment of others. When someone was sick they could not be moved to fly to the nearest healer to save them. They cared not for hunting and war. Spiteful comments were made they would even hand the keys of the vault over if you asked enough. Their leaders pleaded and threatened them to get their act together and gave them a date to do it by. In the end they were forced out of their home to wander the sunlight ruins of the Light Goddess.

As they roamed a spirit met them and asked them why they lived life as such. They answered it was just simple for them to be this way. The spirit gave a sly look and asked if they wished for a power that would make it as such that no one would expect anything of them again. They asked, "Do you want to become an Emperor?"

They accepted without hesitation. To only live to graze and yawn, to be left alone even at the cost of being a monster, it was enticing. But they had one condition for the spirit. "I want to be me and me alone, no others can be part of this form." The spirit frowned, "But then you will be Many, for an Emperor needs it's heads to form the Souls." "Then so be it."

So One Became Three. The Soul became cracked and split among Patience, Apathy, and Resentment. And They lived in peace for centuries in a harmony, roaming the land, satisfied. But They noticed They were slowly losing to this body, to this nature. It started small but grew. They would vanish and come back to decimated forests and wildlife. One day, a clutch of injured hatchlings, shivering under the giants feet. Resentment spoke first, full of anger and bitterness, "We were fooled, they gave us a power we cannot control and now we will become a true monster!" "We still have time." Patience responded. "Time for what?"

They searched far and wide, frightening mages and necromancers in search of help. They finally found a willing soul who looked at Them with pity in her eyes. "If this is what you wish then I will do my best"
So the Three who shared One split themselves, dividing the Body and Soul. Three were born that day, forms made of unstable magic and emotions. The mage smiled at the newly born siblings. "Don't fear children, you are still the Great Emperor and one Soul connected. Control your magic and you can form yourselves however you please. Forget the stories of old you were told."
