Riptide

Riptide was not born, but rather created as waves crashed upon one another, capturing the everlasting soul of The Ocean Guardian. The Ocean Guardian is a being who is created from the ocean with the purpose of keeping it safe. Started originally by the Tidelord, The Ocean Guardian serves no other purpose, until Riptide. As the Ocean Guardian, Riptide spent the first few years of life patrolling the seas and vanquishing unwanted creatures and monsters.
Soon creatures that normally wouldn't be threats began to attack. Each time they were cut down, a shadowy leech was found on them. The presence of the leeches would bring about dark whispers to those around them, though Riptide as a Guardian was unable to hear such things clearly. This allowed Riptide to carry on where others would succumb to the whispers of the leeches.
With the power of the ocean, Riptide took on a horde of these plagued creatures all at once. In some frustrated action, the leeches formed together to create a shadow much larger than Riptide. A whisper then crossed into his mind. "You cannot win this fight." He fled, the shadow creature laughing as Riptide left a new feeling within him.
Emotion was something that the Guardians weren't supposed to feel and yet, Riptide had felt anger and defeat at the hands of this creature. As he pondered this meaning a new life began to fill him. One of emotion, and of memories. The memories of all the previous Ocean Guardians filled his head. This was not a new threat to the ocean, but it had shown its true form here, with him. It wasn't afraid anymore. In a sudden panic he urgently made his way out of the ocean.
As he turned back he watched as the ocean was drained into a void, taking all of the ocean's creatures with it. It would take all of the life, but not the memories. No longer was Riptide just a guardian of the ocean, he was all that was left. He had become something more than his previous incarnations. Something more alive and aware. With this awareness he spotted a group traveling along a not so well traveled path. A hopeful looking Veilspun leading the way. He joined them, though left before they entered a strange fog. As he crawled into a deep crevice in the ground he found the doors to an ancient place. There were people here and more to come. Eventually he would find others who might be able to face the threat he had seen. He would find everything he could about the being and others who sought the same fight as him.
