Biography
Lore Notes:
Ripjaw never truly felt at home in the Viridian Labyrinth. Dark scales grew too hot under the "nourishing" sun, and glimmering patterns drew attention against the flourishing green. Ripjaw began his life trying desperately to learn from his parents how to thrive in this land he was born into. His father navigated the winds with such blinding speed and his mother had harnessed sparkling winter freezes to assist her. Ripjaw had neither of these boons and learned early on that his brute strength could only get him so far.
Lost and angered by the endless challenge to find his place in a lifestyle that was so unfit for him, his aggression boiled into a red haze that blinded him to his path. His name went from being muttered in pity to being shrieked in fear until the day he was pushed back to the edge of his childhood home and out of the Gladekeeper's embrace.
Battered, exhausted, and ashamed Ripjaw sought refuge in cool and quiet places. He quickly lost track of how long he wandered, hiding from view, until he reached a land with little sunlight and glowing life like he had never seen. As he began to relax in this comfortable space, his wounded heart began to heal. A day came that he awoke feeling watched and he found hismelf surprised to feel no fear under the gaze. From the shadows, a strange dragon with purple eyes wandered closer. Her lithe grace carrying her as if she was a spirit without true form. She asked nothing of him, merely watched until he was ready to ask questions of her where he learned quickly that her name was Wraithe, they were in the Tangled Wood and she had a clan nearby. She extended no formal invitation to join them, but as soon as he heard of their existence, he felt his heart drawn in a way he had never experienced before. With her permission, he followed as she led him to the mismatched clan. His heart beat faster as all eyes turned upon him but Wraithe's approval was all anyone needed. Ripjaw was welcomed with open arms to this new home and given support and time to rest. Here, he could both learn and be whomever he was meant to be...
Ripjaw kept his old name as a symbol of his past but the anger and senseless violence were long since behind him. A stalward guardian, he slipped through the shadows and offered his strength to his new clan. At the end of every patrol, he was welcomed back to fresh food, friendly familiars, and hatchlings begging for stories and sparring tips. He did not know where his future would take him, but for the first time in his life he was in no rush to get there. He was plenty happy to enjoy his life as it was for now.
