Biography

Lore written by me, DoggoNoWanno. Small trigger warning: death & graphic vocabulary. Read the full lore HERE

On a normal day, the magic within the petal would have been eaten up by the toxic plague atmosphere. Other petals have been scattered amongst the lands of Sornieth without any reaction. But today was different.

The Scarred Wasteland was in the midst of a seasonal change, and thus the Wyrmwound was excreting rare gasses into the atmosphere that contained pure plague essence. This, along with a multitude of other factors (both arcane and plague influences) created the perfect circumstances to allow the Pearlescent Veilspuns to come alive.

The shimmering petal that had placed itself upon Velia's still-warm body had the iridescent shine sucked out of it, her body consuming the arcane magic. A plague-esque reaction soon began.
Although the colours were pretty - light pinks, purples and blues - the flesh rapidly rotting and melting off the bones was extremely grotesque, and gave off a dank organic compost with an odd metallically magic stink to it.

The skeleton was all that remained. Over the span of two weeks, it slowly began reshaping the bone structure to that of a Veilspun. The putrid noxious soil that had slowly collected around the bones began to cling to the skeleton, the arcane magic beginning to create and bind the organs and flesh together.

About a month after the initial reaction, Velias eyes opened. She felt like she had just woken up from a ten thousand year sleep. Her personality remains the same, but she has no recollection of her previous life as an imperial. To her, she was always a Veilspun.

She discovered her newfound magical aura: a mild arcane energy that allows unique majestic plants to grow and not only survive, but thrive in her presence in the Scarred Wasteland. She cannot turn it off or stop growing plants. The only way to stop is to travel to a different region, as these plants are only compatible with the Scarred Wasteland's certain specific air and soil properties. Despite not being able to grow vegetation in other regions, the magic never stops shimmering underneath the skin.

She is very limited in how she can control this gift, however she does have more control over certain aspects than any other Pearlescent. Being the one who inherited the magic directly, Velia has the most power out of all the Pearlescents. She can design her plants exactly as she desires, grow them faster, and they last slightly longer when outside of her auras range, which is also double in size of a regular pearlescent. Inevitably, all her floral creations eventually die as she cannot remain in the same location forever to keep them alive.

All of the progenitors have these abilities to some extent, but not to the same degree of Velia.

Velia knows she can't remember her past and has no idea where she came from, but she tries not to think about that, she thinks "what's the point?" Instead, since she's very creative and artistic, she pours her heart and soul into putting as much detail and love as she can into the plants and flowers that bloom around her. She adores and cherishes all the unique plants she creates, never forgetting a single one.

Velia before the arcane magic transformed her:
