Seila-False.png
False Form
Despite having been discovered by her parents very quickly, to no actual physical harm, Seila still utilizes her False Form within most of the Lasher's Effluvial society. It helps her to feel more comfortable and allows her to blend in should other Effluvials or any others of Crow society cross her path. Raised by a physically weak mother and an incredibly strong father, Seila's abilities fall somewhere in the middling range in regards to her viral strain. Her mother, a caring and gentle True Effluvial and her father, a pit fighter of immense strength, both asked her to alter her form to keep from presenting as her 'brother' who'd been replaced. Given their general ambivalence to the way she'd arrived and their support of her staying, Seila figures it was the least she could do for her true parents.

Around her parents, siblings, and mate, she's slightly more willing to expose her true form. Her feathers are something of a novel prize for their rarity, inviting many curious turns of the head when other Effluvials see so many true Magpie feathers in one place.

[Viral Mimicry]

- A unique Magpie contagion. These individuals are able to produce a viral mimic which closely imitates other Crow contagions. Though it requires a bit of exposure to the other species first in order to develop.

- Only one type of strain may be copied at a time, but during the transition period it is possible for two different ones to temporarily mix in a diluted state. As it is not a true version of the virus, it may also be subject to some discrepancies in the way it interacts with others. Majority of the time, however, it acts a close copy of the original.

- One of the more interesting possible combinations involves the Lesser Eboncrow's strain coupled with the Effluvial's. While lost in a berserker rage from one, they are also subject to the trance-like effect of the other, making it possible to order their target unto others rather than simply be left with blindly rampaging.

[Chimeral Crow]

- The Magpie's most important trait--its ability to camouflage itself by altering its outside appearance. Though it cannot shape flesh and bone, they can certain reflect different colors and patterns to suit their needs.

- Chimeral Jackdaws who inherit this trait may find that their ability to use it heavily differs from one individual to the next. Some only able to change certain aspects of themselves, while others can influence multiple areas--but more often than not, only true Magpies are able to conceal their entire bodies.

[Birds of a Feather]

- A Magpie latent perk. It allows for quick observations between visual media. They can spot minute differences almost right away, and likewise quickly study their marks.

- In practice, this allows them to use their wing traits to seamlessly camouflage among the other species and reflect the correct patterns in the correct places, alongside its exact colors.

- In other applications, they make for an ability that produces great artists or allow them ease in the art of facial recognition, spy differences in handwriting, identify counterfeit currencies or anything that else that their eyes can pick up and discern between.

[Copied Immunity]

- Magpie mothers either swap Crow eggs with their own, or sneak them in if they think they can get away with an unnoticed addition or three. The egg immediately blends in with the surrounding type and adopts a closely resembling pattern/form, with the resulting young taking on the appearance of the Crow type it is raised with.

- This trait allows the hatchling’s body goes on to produce lifelong antibodies of that one particular type of viral strains as it lives with their new family and does not change once established.

- Their immunity follows the same Crow contagion hierarchy--

If raised with True Effluvials -- Immune to all Crow strains (the most ideal).
If raised with Lessers -- Immune to Lesser strain.
If raised with Albinos -- Immune to Albino strains.
If raised with Ebons -- Immune to Ebon strains.
The same trend follows the vast variations of the Jackdaw and Crowborne type.
