The appearance of Obelisks fascinated Denver. Ever the studious Snapper, as soon as the newest breed was discovered, Denver began to research and record.

Eventually, just observing the Obelisks in the clan and researching the dig site was not enough for Denver: he had to know what it was like to become an Obelisk.

Denver gathered his spare change and took out a small loan from one of the clan members before making his way to the marketplace to purchase a breed change scroll.

The next few days were hard to describe. Denver didn’t feel any pain, but his sight, smell, and hearing were not working properly. He became feverish as he completed his transformation.

Around a week or so after activating the breed change scroll, Denver had completed his transformation into an Obelisk, though he still retained some of his Snapper traits.

As a result of never sleeping as a snapper, Denver suffered from insomnia; however, unlike before when he was never able to sleep at all, Denver can occasionally find sleep by burrowing under the ground as if he’s preparing to molt.

Denver also retained his strong jaw and teeth from when he was a snapper. He doesn’t need to use them often, but he sometimes uses them to crush the shells of crustaceans and other seafood he enjoys eating.

Denver’s transformation also awakened dormant powers he hadn’t had access to. The magic of the scroll triggered a response from Denver’s weak powers and made them much stronger. He now can use them to move objects, identify items, and alert himself of dangers.

Now an Obelisk, Denver has opposable thumbs, which means that he was able to adopt many small and furry animals he was previously unable to care for.

Although his transformation into an Obelisk did not help much in researching Obelisks created from the statues, Denver was very happy with the ways his life changed after he became an Obelisk, and life was only seeming to get better and better!
