______ When Garnet was younger, she and her siblings went off to serve the Gladekeeper. Soon after, Garnet alone returned. Once a bright, helpful, and kind dragon, she seemed entirely different upon her return. Power hungry, ambitious, and cruel, she drastically changed the way the clan where she'd been born was run. From a close-knit community of outcasts and travelers, a royal court of betrayal and intrigue was born through some well-placed whispers. No longer was she warm to any of her new, younger siblings, either. Instead, as soon as they grew up, she would threaten them off. If they didn't flee from her threats, she followed through on them. No other dragon had the courage to question or challenge her on this.

______ Choosing for her mate a beautiful Skydancer who was as cold and conniving as she was herself, she had a daughter. Her nest had only had a single egg, which most of her fellows had attempted to console her about. However, she herself had seemed thrilled.

______ Once her daughter hatched, Garnet spent countless hours teaching her how to rule. As her attempts to instill ruthlessness in her daughter consistently failed, however, she began to grow more distant and resentful. After some time, she and her mate had more children. Eventually, Garnet found a worthy heir: her youngest son, Adam.

______ Something had happened. What it was, Garnet could not remember. In fact, there was much she couldnt remember. She had only vague notions about her previous life. A feeling of importance. A feeling of duty. A feeling of horror. A feeling that she lost who she was once before. She had been found by wandering into the Tangled Woods in a daze, and when approached by Hamlet, she couldn't remember anything but her name: Garnet.
