Solstice let Spirit's hide slip from her jaws as fire nipped at her tail. "Do not worry, brother." She said, her voice a gentle whisper. "I will protect you."

She backed away now, her gentle golden eyes saying more than any words. Flames licked at her hide, engulfing it and tearing away hungrily. She did not wince, nor cry out, but merely continued her walk.

It seemed like she was an angel, as her loving eyes shone through the dancing flames that slowly ate her away. "I love you, brother." She called back to him, her body slowly turning to ash. "Know that." And then she was gone.
