~*Adara*~
"I believe that everyone has someone, don't you?"
-- to Einarrion when they first met
"I will protect my home till my dying breath, and I promise you that it will not be an easy death."
-- quote by: shanncrafter Everyone desires something, whether it be a glass of the best dragon wine, or a soft pillow to cuddle at night, or a kingdom to conquer. Rare are those who know what they desire. Rarer still are those who find and attain them. Born from the ashes of an ancient Flamecaller temple carved deep into the side of a great volcano, Adara had been alone since her creation. She had no name then, no possessions. She had nothing, but she did not feel loss. How could she, when she knew little else? For years, she lived in solitude. Dragons did not often tread her way as it was rumored to be perilous. Those who did dare were always looters, thieves, and criminals intent on getting their claws on any valuable items left in the area. Because of this, Adara forced herself to learn how to fight in order to protect her home. Being alone, she also had to gain knowledge about herbs and medicine as she was often left bleeding profusely after every encounter. The empty, old temple had been her sanctuary and her prison. The urge to venture into the outside world nagged at her, only growing more adamant as the seasons changed. She didn't know why, but she felt something was missing. Confused, she tried to ignore the call. Soon, she could deny it no longer and reluctantly left. Not three leagues from her home, she found what she was looking for. It wasn't so much a something as it was a someone. Stuck in tar, the dragon--a fae--was wounded, feral, and dying. Needless to say, she saved him from certain death and took him back to her temple. Though she was tempted to leave him there when he opened his mouth... His insults and threats grated on her nerves. It was almost funny really. He looked so serious, trying to intimidate her, but the fact that he was a fae stuck in black goo was nothing but comical. During the weeks he spent recovering in her care, they had done nothing but argue. He had been furious about her meddling in his business, and she was annoyed that he couldn't just be thankful she came along. It wasn't until more thieves attempted to ransack the treasures in the ancient temple that they had come to understand each other. Adara had fiercely protected her home to the point where even the fae had to acknowledge her capabilities as a fighter. To Adara's surprise, though not fully healed, he had lent a claw and together they fended off the ruffians. From then on, there was mutual respect between them. Ironically, they were more alike than they had originally thought. They both lacked a proper Name, and had only hostile contact with other dragons. She didn't question him when he made no inclination to leave despite his full recovery. Inwardly, she was thankful for the company. Slowly, they revived the Flamecaller temple, restoring it to its former glory. It was when the fae gave her her Name that she was certain, she had found the beginnings of what she was looking for. A family. |
Dragon Bust Here Inventory Here Reviewed by: Epulina ”That’s quite an interesting tale you have to tell. I’m glad you made it through your period of strife. I recommend sparring with your mate regularly, to get to know their fight style better and build a bond that will come in handy should you both need to defend your temple again.” --- Adara nods enthusiastically, "Yep! We're working on it. Thank you!" |
