Biography

HARBINGER, THE CLAIRVOYANT

~~The den you crawl into is dark and gloomy, only lit by a few candles far away. The reminders of daylight peek through the heavy cloths hung over the windows that were supposed to look out onto the rest of the lair. In an attempt to navigate through the room, you feel the walls, and carved into the stone you find a groove with small markings, parallel to the floor. Keeping one claw on it, you follow it, until you get closer to the source of the light. In the faint light, there lies a coiled up dragon on a pile of pillows, flipping through a book. She looks up, and her dark, clouded eyes seem to look through you.
"Oh, are you the one Calm sent?" She places a bookmark in the open pages and closes the book, then feels her way over to the bookshelves along the wall. She then turns back to you, and cocks her head.
"Your future is.. curious. Strange. Plenty of choices and few set fates. Most dragons are stubborn and have one path that is unavoidable, but your path feels alien in its very existence."
You watch her expectantly, as she lies down again and continues to stare through you.
"Yes, it's almost as if you don't belong to this world. I can only know so much about the past from seeing the future, so tell me, who are you? What are you truly? And why is Calm so interested in your fate?"~~

When she hatched, Harbinger was called Helena, and she was a frail little skydancer. She was the runt of the litter, with an inherent short-sightedness that made her stumble when trying to walk. As her siblings played, she sat watching. When she learned to speak, she said strange things. She started to speak of things that would happen in the future, of ill fates that would affect those close to her. The adults quickly grew uncomfortable with her premonitions, and her peers were scared of her. Her premonitions always proved true, and whenever she suggested a change to avoid a certain fate, the changed fate would happen. However, most ill fates couldn't be avoided, and the name Harbinger began to stick. Eventually, her clan abandoned her out of fear. On her own, barely an adult, she wandered the Tangled Wood.

On her travels, she met a dragon called Calm. The fae was intruiged by her predictions, and trusted in her advice. It was the first time in her life that someone wasn't scared of Harbinger. From that point on, Harbinger was loyal to the fae, following her whenever she could. The older Harbinger got the less she could leave her cave, though, as her eyesight grew worse and worse. Bright light began to hurt, and soon Harbinger stuck to candlelight.

The Skydancer hopes that with the magical treatments, her eyesight might not grow worse, though it is likely. She is attached to books, of which she has a large collection, and spends most of her time reading them. Calm visits her daily, whenever she isn't out on travels, and always listens to her advice.
