Before Shu hatched, Lycus had traveled the world alone, moving from town to town, clan to clan, never settling down but sharing his love of music with everyone he met. Lycus enjoyed his life on the road. He had plenty of time to practice his craft, learning to play new instruments from every region of Sorneith. When he journeyed to the Viridian Labyrinth, he had no idea his solo life on the road was about to end.

When his brood hatched, Lycus was overjoyed. He had always dreamt of being a father someday and even if it hadn’t happened in the way he expected, he loved his three hatchlings more than life itself. The devoted father expressed his love through music and song, a habit that was quickly picked up by his daughter Shu.

A Pearlcatcher like her father, Shu was almost constantly singing or dancing. There was no mistaking her for Lycus’ daughter and as she grew, her musical talents grew with her. When her siblings went their separate ways, Shu was dumbfounded. She could never imagine leaving her father’s side. When Lycus told her he dreamt of returning to life on the road, Shu was overjoyed. She didn’t think twice about leaving her birthclan, for she would get to see the world instead.

Lycus’ solo life on the road had ended, but now he had his daughter by his side. Together, the duo traveled the world, sharing their love of music with one another and everyone they met along the way.
