Khemeia

Khemeia was a chemist, well respected for their work - but also obsessed with the idea of alchemy and transmutation. Convinced there was a way to transform metals into gold, they spent their time experimenting until, finally - they cracked it.

But in the process of their experiments and their desperation to be proven right, they'd slowly been drifting away from more scientific methods and into the magical, including experimenting on themselves. The end result was, indeed, the ability to transform anything into gold - by eating it. This left them with an internal body almost entirely composed of molten gold and the ability to split their body in segments to access it, but also insatiable hunger to metals to turn into more gold.
