Biography
{it needs to not be the middle of the night for me to sort out Corbin; lore incoming soon!}
The only thing you need to know right now about Corbin is that Reko, who has managed to keep the peace in this entire huge clan for as long as there's been a clan here, hates Corbin.
Those vines don't look like much, but they contain what magic Corbin has and, should he act against another member of the clan, will constrict and keep him from moving.
Corbin's Return
Things have been a bit strained since Corbin got back from his self-imposed exile. After a massive fight between Reko and the former clan founder, Clan Sunleaf has started picking sides. Not everyone knows what happened between Corbin and Xandra in the first place, but that hasn’t stopped them from forming opinions.
For his part, the former Guardian seems to blame his ex-partner for his transformation. He knows better than to confront Xandra directly because it became very clear very early why Yophiel, who started life as a tinker and engineer, has become so martial. Instead, Corbin spreads rumors and coaxes some of the wilder members to rebel a bit. As a result, though very few of the clan have declared open support for the usurper, those that claim to support neither side often aid and abet the chaos.
Everything was just simmering, but then Corbin talked Pala into stealing Xandra's Logbook, the huge Nature spellbook she notes her research in. No one exactly knows what he was going to do with it, because Bogsneaks have magic that Guardians don't. Ankuroth, instead of discouraging the young thief, helped her try to accomplish it, but to bring the book to Ankuroth, leading to a rift between the Pearlcatcher and Pala's family matriarch, Dor. Dor took full control of the heist crew and Ankuroth was forced to step back, not only from the crew, but also from her leadership position in Clan Sunleaf, when her complicity was discovered.
On top of stealing the Logbook, Corbin tried to incite rebellion against Xandra, using varying degrees of subtlety to enlist Morrigan, Faolin, Blodwen, Lim, and Tien. Guarin saved Blodwen and tried to stop Faolin, and both were lost in the chaos.
Xandra had very strong bindings on her Logbook after the Equinox attack, and they backfired on Faolin. Konstantin managed to save Kalle, who'd gone in after their other friend, but Guarin was lost. The bindings snapping back were what turned the tide for Xandra, who had to exert a considerable amount of power to keep the snap localized and not destroy the clan. Dmitry, who'd already taken a leadership position after Equinox, talked Lim into surrendering. Pala and Tien left the clan for good.
Reko helped Xandra bind Corbin, and was in a rage no one had ever seen from the diplomatic Speaker. Xandra was the one who invented the bindings for her former partner and talked Ankuroth and Lim into staying with the clan.
Unlike Ankuroth's self-imposed mask, Corbin's is far from ornamental.
