Biography

"Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst." Clan Leader | Bellmistress | Fighter |
Personality
Uskir, the Bellmistress, is the reluctant leader of the Olivine Bellworks. She wasn't always in charge and she's still getting used to having other dragons listen to her. While she can be a good listener, she would rather spend her time working or overseeing the tasks that she assigns to other members of the Bellworks. Uskir is committed to making this work, no matter what, and while it may be unpleasant to have her focus on an individual they usually turn out the better for it. |
She's a perfectionist and makes sure that any bell or cast item that passes through the works gets a good once over from her before it gets sent out. The only other dragons she's willing to listen to when she's on a tear are Chantico and Arrak, the co-founders of the Bellworks and her closest friends. It can be unclear sometimes whether or not Uskir is telling the truth. She tries very hard to be a good person but this doesn't always carry through in her actions because she is willing to let others flounder for awhile before offering to help. She believes that personal growth comes from overcoming obstacles on ones own, and that too much help is just as bad as no help at all. Most of her "help" consists of proverbs which she uses to try and nudge her forgemates in the right direction. Uskir finds it difficult to be satisfied by any amount of material wealth or achievements, and when one project is completed she immediately starts another. She obsessively hoards materials for bell making, and her sleeping area is stuffed with bits and pieces of scrap metal and ore. Forge Clapper Gilt bell metal. Embossing and texture by Arrak. Casting by Uskir. |
Eventually they settled down again at the edge of the Hearth and started recruiting other dragons for their newly formed Olivine Bellworks. Half the time the other dragons didn't know what they were signing up for, but the coatl seemed so excited about it that it seemed like it must be something good. The Bellworks had a brief stint in the Molten Scar before abruptly packing it up and hightailing to the Blacksand Annex, where they began to pick up the pieces of what was left. Since the latest move, Uskir has been asking several of the more level-headed dragons to help her build a strong, stable lair. She still makes the executive decisions regarding the Bellworks, but she has been much less high strung since she left the more mundane tasks to her small committee of supporters. Restructuring the clan has made it more profitable as well, which pleases her to no end. She's had her share of nests with various partners but she has yet to find the right one to settle down with. Her children haven't ever really been all that attached to her, with most of them heading off to serve the Flamecaller as soon as they were able. The only one who stayed around for any length of time is Mogha, who tends to stay away from the forges and prefers going on bug hunts to his mother's great disappointment. Uskir's journals are of great value to the clan and she keeps them under lock and key to prevent any more accidental burnings. She uses them to keep track of the ratios of different kinds of metal in the mixtures they use in the bells, what works and what doesn't, and to keep track of what kinds of useful things the gatherers bring back. |
