Kilandri

Formerly known as Stormfly, Kilandri is the founder and leader of the Atlantis clan. A born leader, she commands the respect of any who meet her. Her control over Water magic is second to none, and in her home territory she is a force to be reckoned with.

They knelt down in a row before her, awaiting her blessing. The clan's newest hatchlings, barely adolescents, yet ready to serve the cause.

Their parents stood to her right. The younger ones were crying, for they knew the likelihood of their children ever coming back was next to none. The older parents were silent and still, for this was hardly the first time they'd witnessed this ritual; hardly the first of their hatchlings to be sent away to the war.

Kilandri kissed them each on the forehead, murmuring blessings as she moved down the line. When she reached the last of the line, she smiled; for her own blue eyes stared back at her, frightened yet strong.

As she kissed her child on the forehead, she whispered to him, "Be strong, and know that we are proud of you."

She could feel Firestorm's gaze burning into her back; resentful and angry. He always acts like this whenever the ritual comes around, she reflected sadly. Can he not see that this is for a higher cause than us all?

She stepped back and immediately, the procession began, the hatchlings filing out in a line, out of the courtyard and through the gates. They would continue, then, through the city and out of the main gates, where the Tidelord's warriors were waiting to escort them to the battlefield.

Kilandri turned, only to find herself face-to-face with her mate. Firestorm loomed over her, eyes dark with anger. "He was too young. He wasn't ready."

She raised her chin in response. "I believe he would've disagreed."

"Barely a moon old. How could he know anything?" Firestorm growled.

"What does it matter? It is an honour — one that you would not understand!" Kilandri snapped back, before turning away. Firestorm gave one last growl, before he too stalked off.

An honour he cannot comprehend, Kilandri thought. How could he? He has not seen the destruction the Shade would wrought upon the land. Or the battles the deities wage against each other. To be exalted is the highest honour a dragon can receive.

She nodded. I am right in doing this.
