misc stuff- cuts his beard regularly. bordering on gnc but not very openly

timeline type thing that transitions into story snippets bc i have undiagnosed mental illness/lh/hj -
•his early life is blurry. he gains an interest in the supernatural at a young age, stuff like proving the existence of cryptids and certain monsters
•became convinced through others influence that they[cryptids] are all evil and violent. got into hunting as a teen/young adult, spurred on by acquaintances at first and then it was just what he wanted to do.
•while on a hunt, discovers interdimensional travel from witnessing creatures such as the Teleporting Planesrunner and interests switch to wanting to harness the ability to do so himself.
•after years of experimentation manages to make a pocket watch that allows him to jump dimensions temporarily. he realizes, with a bit of a start, that he could make this a business. so he does.
•years pass. clancey makes quite a name for himself, known commonly as the "dimension travelling cryptid hunter", his shop gets lots of traffic, and many attempted thieves- though none had succeeded, until dorothy.
•clancey lets it go, for some time, though gets word that a dragon matching their description is hanging out with.. cryptids? monsters might be a more correct word- he doesn't particularly care, but he hasn't gone hunting in a while, and figures this will be pretty fun
•its not fun. not for him, anyways. dorothy gets a nice laugh out of it, of the fact that the beings here -and gods there's so many of them- seem like they could take him out with a look. so instead of doing anything he just. lingers. gets a place, a nice cave, and hunkers down. he has no clue what he's even doing here anymore.
•he gets found out- the very founder of the haven realizes what he came here to do, and so she curses him. its not noticeable, at first, but the gems growing out between his scales make themselves known soon enough.
•he's allowed to stay, under supervision, because the very one who cursed him feels guilty, even though -and he knows this- she shouldn't. it feels.. wrong, being here, but the crystals have made it harder to fly, and he's not sure if he could make the trip back home even if he wanted to.
•clancey figures he might as well be useful, or get something done, so he works on small jewelry pieces and makes attempts to help out around the haven in his free time.
•he's been here for a while now, and while most of the residents aren't particularly fond of him, they tolerate and appreciate his help.
•over time hes acclimated quite well to his condition. it has rendered him flightless, but also forms a nice armor. hes also gotten a few compliments, which.. leave him conflicted.
