Joseff's parents had their nest on the border of the Sea of a Thousand Currents and the Shifting Expanse. Due to this, half the nest was of water and the other was of lightning. However, the original Clan wasn't bothered by this and tolerated those of different flights.

He had the typical childhood of a Guardian and when of age, left to find his ward. This was something that he struggled with, as he just couldn't find someone or something to protect. That is, until he found a severely injured Yarekma barely alive. It was then that he knew this was his ward.

After some initial issues with Yarekma, the two became close as he helped her heal. He would eventually find out that he wasn't just helping to heal her body, but her scarred mind as well. Joseff did understand though that while he can help, there's only so much he can do for her. But, he is always supportive of her and her issues.

It was he who came up with the idea of starting a clan of their own and is the Patriarch. He also came up with the idea of having dragons of all kinds be welcomed into the clan, as he thought that it may help Yarekma. He was most pleased that Spira came to join as soon as they got the lair set up.

He is much more talkative than Yarekma and is also more friendly and trusting. While Yarekma loves to fight and is quick to anger, Joseff is more calm and willing to talk things out. However, threaten the clan and he will show you that he can fight as well, if not better than, Yarekma. While Yarekma likes to wear fur and feathers, Joseff prefers apparel of bone or things that look like bones.

He is good for advice and many of the younger clan members often go to him for advice. Anything he may not be of help with, he'll recommend that they go talk with Spira, as she is great for advice, if not another ear to listen to whatever the problem may be.

He does like to tinker with things, but it's more of a hobby than a job. He does help other members if they need it while they're trying to build something. Of the Main 3, he deals with Clan Protection, whether it is from rival clans, the Beastclans or wildlife. He also is concerned with battlefield ethics.

Joseff did receive a blessing from Kaloki to make his legs more armored against attack. This has resulted in stones growing on his skin.
