A short account of our residents.
Ixie: Distant, aloof inn founder and caretaker. Introverted and isolates herself. Does more behind-the-scenes work. When she interacts with customers, kind, gentle, soft-spoken and helpful. Has a trauma in her past she shares with Rascal.
Rascal: More friendly and engaging than his mate, but still somewhat enigmatic and closed-off. Does more of the managing and interacting.
Araora: Inspects rooms and makes sure they're all up to standard before a new dragon is allowed to stay in them. Mostly in charge of the cleaning staff. Has high expectations and tends to stress herself out more than necessary. Expects the best in everyone and everything, and is often disappointed. Has slowly grown less enthusiastic and more jaded. Mated to Alastair, who helps as much he can and alleviate her stress when he can.
Alastair: Easy-going, noble. Tends to carry authority and helps with the management. One of the first to join the clan. Helped build the inn. Knows about Ixie and Rascal's past and helps cover for them when they're not up to running things.
Sahara: One of the first to join the clan. Helped build the inn. Old, and has quite a few health problems, the least of which being her prosthetic legs. Archivist and story teller. Very close to Ixie and knows her past. Mated to Gleam.
Gleam: Chatty, easy-going hippy. Has a close and personal connection to Lightweaver, despite being born in lightning. Like to say his blue eyes resemble the sky, where the light comes from. Loves sunbathing. Was one of the first to join the clan. Does odd jobs wherever an extra hand is needed, sometimes helping in the kitchen, sometimes cleaning, sometimes entertaining. Very tender with and helpful to Sahara.
Elliot: Genderqueer. Comes off as cocky and competitive, but is rather insecure and sensitive to what others think. Very grateful for all the love and acceptance of their lovers, Claris, Helen, and Will. Has an understated bravery. Helps care for hatchlings.
Claris: Transwoman. A singer. Doesn't particularly like the attention her bright colours bring. Devoted and sticks by what she says, but has anxiety and is easily shaken.
Helen: An incredible socialite who ensures no lone dragon feels unattended to. Fiercely protective of her three lovers, especially Claris. Loves to give compliments. Plays a mean violin and dabbles in a little bit of magic.
Will: Quiet, an excellent listener, not assertive. Helps Elliot with the hatchlings. Has a shocking drive to win when faced with a challenge.
Reala: Bigender. Veteran of some unknown war. Has a hate/love relationship with NiGHTS; supposedly, his scarf was a gift from them. Blunt, rude, suspicious, paranoid, and proud. Protects the inn, keeping an eye out for anything or anyone who may do harm, and deals with the removal of problem customers. Not well-liked by most, but tolerated.
NiGHTS: Agender. Supposedly a veteran of the same war as Reala, but on the other side. Trickster, confident, free-loving, and very stubborn. Loves to fly and is very skilled at it. One of the only people who can ease Reala's blood and is the best at dealing with him. Helps teach young dragons skills they need to be independent, but can be rather lazy.
Caodai: Prefers to think of himself as a refugee of the war that NiGHTS and Reala were involved in rather than a veteran. Has an uncanny ability to pinpoint people's fears and insecurities. Has an air that makes people uneasy, but is so happy to have found Lucent, who has worked past that. Works as a night watchman.
Lucent: Transman. Leads the clan's alchemy research. Was drawn to the way Caodai could penetrate right through him and his facades, but deeply in love with Nitrine, the literal light of his life. Bookworm, very quiet, and generally unassertive, preferring to find his own way to get what he wants rather than make waves through direct confrontation. Sometimes, can be rather judgmental.
Nitrine: Enthusiastic and affectionate. An artist who creates decor for the inn along with occasionally doing commissions for the dragons who come by and, every so often, painting faces for the hatchlings. Good friends with NiGHTS, and has found good company in Xylem. Deeply loves his Lucie.
Xylem: Came to the clan through an arranged mateship to Nicholas, but when that fell through, found better company in Nitrine. Still has conflicted feelings of affection and disdain for Nikki, for she did grow to like him in the time they spent together. Very outdoorsy and adventurous and hates being inside for too long. Does landscaping, and sometimes likes to startle those who come and go from the inn. Loves that her colouring helps her blend in.
Mismar: Does laundry for the inn and helps with the garden. Amiable, but a complete gossip and somewhat gullible. Especially friendly with Xylem, or rather, Zizi. They gossip often. Used to be completely enmoured by Jungle, viewing him akin to a celebrity, but has lately felt very distant to him.
Jungle: A scavenger. Depressed. When he arrived, he was incredibly boisterous and charismatic; he could draw in a whole room with his stories, though he was prone to exaggeration. He loved the attention, but his popularity made him grow arrogant. He was mated to a dragon named Porvata at the time, but she got fed up with his behavior and neglect of her and left him. He brushed it off and took in Mismar as a mate, thinking Porvata would see her error and return eventually, but when he heard she was exalted, things changed. Now, he does his job quietly and doesn't tell stories and has withdrawn from many of his personal relationships. He feels ashamed of who he's been and terribly lost.
John: A forager, but prone to finding the spikiest plant and falling into it or otherwise hurting himself. Dorky, makes bad jokes, and loves trashy books and magazines. Feels more of a connection to Windcatcher than any other deity. Prone to vivid nightmares.
Anahita: Autistic. Forages with John and often has to be the one doing first aid to help him. Loves the way he makes her laugh and appreciates how he is consistently clear and straightforward with her. Enjoys making flower crowns, their scent and feel, and pretending to be a princess. Keeps a regal air and is very diplomatic, which she occasionally uses to comedic effect. Flowers are her special interest, and she always has suggestions for Mismar and Zizi. Occasionally makes arrangements for the inn, and has bonded with Ryuu over their love of plants. She does errands for him occasionally, when he needs it.
Borealis: Has a twin off in the Arcane lands she often exchanges letters with. Deals with the inn's mail and usually is the representative the clan sends off to the scrying workshop if they ever need it. Aromantic and asexual, but likes having the occasional fling for fun. Goes with the flow, often tired. Likes the cold, and constantly complains when it's hot out. Likes to take nighttime walks.
Porcellana: Nonbinary. Has delusions of grandeur and thinks they can speak directly to the deities and be their prophet. Also has paranoid delusions that, due to their prophetic powers, the Shade is after them and has agents everywhere looking for them. Does not live in the inn, but rather in the forest outside of it. Used to have a mate who lived in isolation with them and recorded their "prophecies" and supported them, believing what they said, but she recently came to terms with the fact that they are ill, not a prophet, and left them, for her own health. They have always been very stressed, but this severely worsened it. Recently, they were found by Borealis during a nighttime walk, injured and half-starved. They are now healing back at the inn and in a panic over the fact they've been discovered. When not stressed out of their mind and consumed by these messages from the gods, they're stoic, but gentle and very thoughtful.
Makara: Demiboy. Hallucinates, but is usually pretty good at separating hallucinations from reality. Likes to juggle and be a clown and make people laugh, but usually becomes overwhelmed with performance anxiety if too many people are paying attention to him. Usually, he stays in the kitchen and bakes, making various breads and pastries for the inn. Is a very lonely person and has a very hard time connecting with people and asserting his own needs/desires/opinions. Adores anyone who gives him an ounce of positive attention. Has a past he is ashamed of.
Quorra: Technological expert, wired the whole inn during its founding. Has found a lovely assistant in Spark; doing the work alone kept her very busy. Loves getting the chance to relax these days. Tends to form opinions very quickly and stand by them until proven wrong. Attracted to talent. Loves Makara's clowning and finds his pastries delectable, and often spends time with him, one of the few people who does. Feels bad for him since much of the rest of the inn takes such little notice of him.
Tourmaline: Maintains the wardrobe. One of the dragons that assisted with the founding. Loves luxury and hates dirt. Close to Jungle and worried about his change in behavior.
Avicenna: A scribe who assists Sahara with maintaining the archives. Was a founding assistant. Was best friends with Tourmaline almost since their arrival, but only recently have they admitted their feelings for each other and become mates. Very effeminate, loves to look cute, open, and cheery.
Frozen: A fighter who prepares dragons for exaltation to the Lightweaver. She and Cereal somewhat keep to themselves, but enjoy the company of the others frequently. Proud to play such an important role in her clan and rather physically affectionate. Gives good advice and likes to give it. Sometimes, it isn't wanted.
Cereal: A fighter who prepares dragons for exaltation to the Lightweaver. In a very deep, intense, long-term relationship with Frozen. Stone cold butch. Not interested in any of your ****, and a strong believer in hard work, as much as personal limitations allow. Occasionally causes her to push others too hard.
Xol: Fishes. Loves swimming and the beach and never tires of it. Seems to have boundless energy, until he tires, when he naps and naps hard. In a V triad with Issachar at the center and Ryuu on the other end.
Ryuu: A healing mage who dabbles in other magics. Has arthritis, which gives him chronic pain. Very gentle and kind, loves flowers.
