They floated aimlessly through time and space, aware of their own existence yet without a physical body. At first, they relied on their baser instincts to get around, following an indescribable need for knowledge and intellectual lifeforms. Passing through many different worlds, they witnessed the aftermath of war, plagues, and famine.. as well as the will to overcome adversity, achieving abundance and harmony. Although they remained incorporeal, their own identity started to take hold within themselves. They wished to find a place they could call home, but it needed to be rich in mana- an energy source they consumed in order to satiate the welling hunger within.

Eventually they found Sornieth and found it to be suitable enough for their needs. The only obstacle: the creation of a form that the inhabitants of this world could trust. It took years before they had sufficient mana to manifest and by that time the world around them had changed slightly. It did not come as much of a surprise since many of the other worlds they had passed by changed as well- they expected it would change even more as the years progressed. However, that was not their main concern.

As they explored the land, they came to know that they were in the domain of the "Stormcatcher"- a place with sprawling cables and the thrumming of machines aplenty. ❝My, my, someone sure looks lost.❞ A soothing effeminate voice caused them to stop in their tracks. A quick glance around brought their eyes to the source of the voice. Four gleaming eyes stared down at them from a shady nook in a cliff edge.

❝Not lost, just taking a gander.❞ They rebuffed, though in the back of their mind they were slightly unnerved they had not noticed the presence of another creature.

She licked her lips and crept out into the light revealing deep green scales and leathery wings tucked tight against her body. ❝My name's Alaya, I've recently found myself without a clan... let's say it got boring.❞ Then, in rapid, deft movements she moved down from her perch and made a full circle around them. They could hear her sniffing as they moved, ❝How intriguing! You may look like a guardian dragon, but you don't smell like them.❞ She trilled in excitement as she came around to face them from a more respectful distance.

It occurred to them just how much smaller Alaya is now that she stood there in full view.
