THE SOOTHSAYER OF THE TIDES
FOUNDER OF THE COTERIE
CHILD OF THE CURRENTS
"I shan't be a vapor that exists and then vanishes. I will learn all I can, and the sea will guide me to those answers."

Born in the Crystalspine Reaches, the contemplative Arete was driven from her homeland to see more of the world she was ever so curious about. She asked, question after question everywhere she went.

Why is it like this?

But none gave her a satisfactory answer.

Exhausted by her travels, she ended in Sea of a Thousand Currents. She believed she would die there, never knowing the answer to her endless questions, "Why must life be like this?" She pondered, sitting beside a tidepool, gazing at the fish swimming to and fro- unaware of their fleeting life. "Life is filled with questions, must I die never knowing the answer?"

"Perhaps you will, and perhaps you won't, only the sea knows" the waves whispered.
She turned, shocked, only to realize the voice came from the tide at her feet.
"The world is filled with endless questions, like the sea which is filled with endless rain. Questions are answered, and yet more come; much like the sea becoming vapor and then water once again."

"Why? Why must I be like a vapor, one which vanishes without a trace? I wish to know more. I must know more," Arete responded, her crests flaring with emotion.

"Perhaps, if you listen to me...you will hear, see, and know. Maybe most of it, maybe all of it, but maybe none."

"That's a risk I am willing to take."

She dove beneath the waves, and was reborn as a child of the currents; gifted with the ability to understand the waves. Her voice was no longer a whisper in her ear, but a roar, one filled with boundless knowledge and answers- all for Arete to learn and understand once more.

It was here that she founded the clan, the Coterie of Eudaemonia. A collection of strangers, friends, misfits, and those who had no label united by the pursuit to know and understand the world around them.
