Eclipse

eclipse traipses through the desert. weary from travel, her gaze moves towards the sun.

rock on, gold dust woman

the earth shudders, something rising up from just underneath the sand to grab him.
he flings himself up as teeth sink into her tail- she kicks, claws gouging out scales.
the attacker releases before surging up again, teeth scraping through his side and claws ripping through his hands.
he flails, battering the other with his limbs and kicking up sand.
with one final kick to the head, he flies away, pearl lost to the expanse.

take your silver spoon, dig your grave

she lands with a sickening crunch. her front legs crumple under his weight, wings bracing on the ground in their stead.
he staggers, pain shooting through his side and chest every time he adjusts his right wing.
with a growl, he burrows into the light sand layer, filling the gouges and stemming bleeding.
another dragon approaches, wary. she hisses and snaps his teeth until they run away.
for hours, he only lies there.

heartless challenge- pick your path and i'll pray

only when the sun begins to set does she rise, flying in short bursts and keeping the highground as she travels northeast.
