Fatel -> Me!

Wandering through the gaping caverns of the underground it's easy to be
stunned by the beauty all around.. In a place so deep and so far from the sun, it's surprisingly bright. Not in the way an electric light is bright, but in the soft glow of a lantern. Of the luminescent stones and mosses that stick out from crevices and nooks all around, above, and below.

And blending into this soft glinting beauty is the resident opal Gaolers.

Cari takes a lot of pride in her family and her lineage. Being a child of Fatel she feels a sense of responsibility in helping out the residents of the Deep. She gladly lends a paw or antler to those in need and isn't above menial tasks like gathering or other such less glamorous and glorious tasks. She finds comfort in the actions, and in aiding her family. Even the ones that aren't of her blood are dear and treasured to her.

Despite her silky lustrous fir, smooth well-kept antlers, and soft glowing shine of the gems growing on her body Cari isn't a particularly vain creature. She enjoys relaxing in underground thermal pools and polishing her claws and gems but at the same time she sees scuffs and rough paws as marks of effort, accomplishment, community. Her favorite grooming is any kind that is communal - visiting the pools and springs with company, braiding one anothers' fur into beautiful and practical arrangements, and taking care to remove stone shards from hard to reach places in paws. These little acts of self care and outward doting are the true highlights of her days.

When she had her first clutch of eggs she couldn't help but dote on the fledgelings as they explored the world and grew into themselves. She couldn't help it, really! It's just in her personality to care for others and especially when it's a hatchling? It's painful not to want to gather them up in a comforting snuggle.. But having her own clutch taught her a semblance of self-control - some small amount of restraint. She realized how important it is for one to be able to care for themselves and blaze their own paths. And there's a different sense of satisfaction and accomplishment that comes from that. Instead of lining up a feast for the young, there's more victory to be gained from teaching them to forage and hunt bugs for themselves (Though it's not a part of a Gaoler's diet there are other species residing in the deep, and that aside it's a good starting target when teaching young to hunt). To see them grow and develop into strong hunters who can snap up their own small beasts or even to provide for the den. It makes her heart flutter and soar to see her family thrive and radiate confidence and pride.

Even though Cari loves her home in the deep, sometimes she does venture to the surface. There's something alluring about the air there. It has a different scent, a different taste. The tunnels are rich and moist and, of course, earthy - But the air near the entrances or on in the meadows and plateaus that rest just outside their domain is... crisp, fresh, and changes with the season. Sometimes she'll emerge from the tunnels just to take a small nap in the sun.. rays warming her richly coloured coat and glinting brightly off of her opal shell.. The soft scent of grass and fresh blooms filling the air around her as she takes the experience in. And it honestly renews her love for home.. the contrast of this overworld indulgence. Though her first few journeys to the surface took some care and preparation.. Being born in the deep gave her eyes strong for the dark, but weak to the sun. Nontheless, the training and slow exposure was more than worth the prize won.

The fins on her from the skin aren't canon, I just really liked the gold effect of the rest of it..!!
