Tide had always been destined for great things. He was the first of three hatched in his nest, and already displayed hope in the use of magic. The Sprial's two siblings, Hau and Omen, were envious of their brother.
That was when Omen's powers proved to be stronger than Tide's. At first, Tide wasn't bothered. He still had his Spiral brother who wasn't good at magic. Of course, Hau went off to the Shadowbinder, leaving Tide to be jealous of his Tundra brother. After some time, Tide became interested in sculpting, and later, enchanting his sculptures to be living statues. The statues would do his bidding, though he kept it calm, simply having them clean his room and get him food. He never used his magic for evil, and was careful with it, unlike Omen, who was a bit more careless. Well, Tide didn't want to do anything bad with his magic. One day, while traveling through the Tangled Wood with his brother, Tide found some ruins of an old temple. In the middle was a large, empty alter, where a statue likely stood, before likely crumbling. While staring at the large alter, Tide had an idea. The temple was secluded, and he could possibly ask his brother for help with his magic. During that round of training, an argument broke out between the two brothers about who was stronger. And something that Tide may or may not regret happened that night. In a spat of jealousy, Tide threw his brother on the alter, and enchanted him to be a statue forever, unless a dragon with good intentions freed him with a drop of their blood falling on the alter. Tide knew his brother likely wouldn't be freed for years, but he couldn't return to his parents to let them know what happened. So, Tide flew off to find another clan to start life anew again, in hopes of forgetting that night. |
