Biography
Goldberry
Matriarch of SouthFarthing
Mate of TomBombadil
Familiar:
Goldberry strolled through a labyrinth of green. Massive trees, new grass, and small saplings competed with each other for the rays of sunlight filtering through a thick mist. The mist, at least, reminded her of the mountain hatchery she'd left only hours before. Alert but unafraid, she allowed her instincts to guide her. Moments later, a small, green form flew toward her, hovering in front of her snout.
"Welcome, Goldberry, to SouthFarthing, a land of beauty and abundance, where Hobbits, as well as Dragons, live in harmony with all that is natural. The Hobbits, which are a very small folk, keep to themselves and you will rarely glimpse them. Yet you are charged with their safety, should they wander into our home, for they are a gentle people." The little sprite landed on one of Goldberry's horns.
"You will be blessed with many dragons, should you lead well, and I will stay beside you so that you are never alone." The tiny wings fluttered, a brief hum in Goldberry's ear. "We have a visitor."
A plump, colorful parrot dropped from a low branch onto the same horn where the sprite stood. With a squawk the bird chased the sprite off before settling in to preen its feathers. It didn't appear to mind when the sprite flew to the other horn.
"Evidently, I am not the only creature seeking your company." The sprite glared at the parrot before turning her attention back to the dragon. "And that was not the visitor I referred to. TomBombadil is waiting in the clearing ahead."
Through the days ahead, Goldberry learned that the dragons in her care would return to the Misty Mountains to hatch their eggs. Only a few of the hatchlings would live in the Viridian Labyrinth. Most would go to other lairs, taking a part of the soul of the SouthFarthing with them.
