____Olwen is an enigmatic figure, even within his own community. He usually secludes himself in his estate. On the rare occasions he does show himself to the public, a mask conceals his identity. He exudes an aura of a quiet confidence to those lucky (or unlucky) enough to be in his presence. With a powerful build for a Skydancer and the ability to detect emotion, he intimidates both the body and mind. He rarely interacts with outsiders, instead opting to speak through a Family representative.

____Core members of the Vardali Family know Olwen to be kind and generous in his own indirect way. He doesn’t smile or laugh much, but he provides whatever his Family needs without hesitation. He values loyalty above all else, and he constructed the Family's dogma to guarantee absolute devotion. But his loyalty lies not with his family, but to his master and his studies. Anything or anyone else is a disposable tool.

zj8AhNA.png ____Olwen originated from an abandoned egg found teetering on the edge of the Wyrmwound. A scavenger discovered the egg and sold it to an exalted researcher, who required it for experimentation. Fortunately for Olwen, he hatched before the researcher could cause any irreversible damage. Instead of disposing of the hatchling, the researcher decided to raise him as her own child. She was near the peak of a Spiral's lifetime, and she knew she needed an apprentice to pass her knowledge onto.

____As a result, Olwen became a prodigy. He dedicated every waking moment of his childhood to the pursuit of knowledge in the subjects of virology and epidemiology. His commitment started as an unconscious decision, as it was all he knew. But over the years, he saw that his master was getting on in years and wasn’t long for the world. He became intent on finding the secret to immortality, and believed he could find the key through his studies.

____To save his master from the brink of death, he infiltrated the Fortress of Ends in the Southern Icefield. The preservation of prisoners in ice was the exact process he needed to extend the rapidly approaching time limit. He encased his aging master in ice, but that was only the beginning of his arduous journey to immortality. He needed funding and supplies for his research, and he would be hard-pressed to find those resources in the lawless land of Plague territory.

____Having heard his plight through the grapevine, an entrepreneur by the name of Elowen approached him with a business proposal. She believed that the two of them were the perfect team to build a Plague empire in the heart of Light territory. With her underground connections and his extensive medical knowledge, they could dominate the wealthiest city in the Sunbeam Ruins.

____They recruited sympathetic Plaguebringer worshipers and wormed their way into the Gilded Heights. Their plan began with a small doctor's office, curing minor ailments and infecting the wealthy with latent diseases. Once symptoms began to show, they sold the cure through a dummy company. Once they gathered enough funds, the doctor's office burned down. The arsonist was never found.

____With money, social standing, and connections established, recruitment began. The Vardali Family gained notoriety in the city as a political entity. They enthralled some with their cult of personality and contributions to the city. The Family donated to the poor, assisted during natural disasters, and fought to protect the city from invasions of other flights. But some were well aware of their criminal activities. They stamped rumors out at their source, as they threatened dissenters into silence or killed them outright.

____With the Family almost managing itself, Olwen was finally allotted time to work on his true goal. In a hidden chamber deep beneath the cellar of the Vardali family estate, Olwen experiments on kidnapped subjects. He alters the memory of and releases the few survivors, and they act as unwitting carriers of infectious disease. After analyzing the results of his experiments, he drills holes into the frozen tomb of his master, and injects her with unstable concoctions. His master has since become less a living dragon, and more a physical embodiment of the most horrific diseases known to dragonkind.
