Midsommar and Loreleigh had considered parenthood before but often met obstacles. Neither wanted to have a nest with a male. It wasn't even worth it if the male in question was content to help them raise it. When they tried asking other parents who DIDN'T want their own eggs, they were met with resounding and collective 'No's.' It seemed the reputations they had preceded them and even the dragons who shunned parenthood did not want their progeny raised by a couple of dragons whose mental states were not the best.
It seemed they would not have a little one of their own no matter what until Ember knocked on their door in the dead of night. She had a present for them and it was small, purple, and very much not from the Nature territories.
"Ember, what is that?"
"Egg."
"I see that it's an egg. Why do you have it?"
"Let's just say her old parents were very unfit. I heard you two empty-nesters had a spare cradle soooo..."
While Loreleigh and Midsommar were both a bit shocked at the sudden responsibility thrust on them, they were not about to let it slip. They took Ember's gift gratefully and immediately set out to baby-proof the den and get ready for hatch-day.
Kodia was born warm spring day. Her eyes were beautifully arcane and Midsommar panicked because she didn't know if getting tears on babies was safe. Loreleigh just held her wife who held their new baby. Whatever came next they finally had the baby they wanted.
Kodia, to the surprise of no one, is very coddled by her mothers
