Born high up in the Zephyr Steppes, Soliene was made for the sky. She found a kindred spirit in the rocs the dragons of her clan often used--as companions, beasts of burden, and even transportation for the limited-flighted dragons. But Soliene was one with the birds, always in the air. Always flying. She never dreamed she'd leave Talon's Reach, never once thought she'd find herself on a glacier.

But the night her roc died and the great bird's spirit flew away, she watched as a vibrant color against the night sky, swirling like a trail for her to follow. And she did. It is said that the spirits of those who have passed often find themselves on Leylight Glacier, dancing with the southern lights before their trip to the Great Beyond. Some, though, choose to stay. In what those of Leylight call 'spirit lanterns' a spirit might choose to bind itself to a dragon, allowing it's very essence to sit within a glass blown charm the dragon always keeps close. That way they can never be parted...and on occasion, when the lights dance in the night sky, spirit and dragon can become one.

Chiara, her roc, happily shaped herself into the glass blown vulstal that Soliene keeps with her at all times. And it was on that night, so determined not to be parted from her dearest friend, that Soliene met two more friends that she would learn to love with her whole heart: Lunnox and Sunder.
