Hysterical Historian

"Your cozy little clan won't have a branch left standing should that beast decide to one day travel north. But I have a plan, the one deity that has the elemental advantage over the Emperor. The Tidelord must be found with the utmost haste!"

The second refugee from the Sunbeam Ruins, brought along by Aelius after his clan was torn asunder by the monstrous Emperor, Luminax. Albus had once been quite the proud and respected historian, highly ranked amongst the elite scholars of his studious clan of Pearlcatchers. However one fateful excavation taken in the central plateau of the Ruins, and in just a brief period he had witnessed firsthand the rise of a horror once thought to be nothing more than a fearful myth, his entire team incinerated by elemental breaths of unfathomable power, and the only reason he had made it out alive was due to a rival Imperial, the cousin species his so blatantly despised, pulling him out of his frozen shock and hauling him into the skies in a desperate escape...

To say the shock and trauma from the event drove him mad is an understatement.

Albus has become obsessed with trying to figure out how to destroy the rampaging monstrosity that tore his life apart. He hardly acknowledges the startled and saddened glances turned his way as he storms by, furiously digging through Jade's archives and practically interrogating Sorien's warriors into a corner over how a creature so powerful and monstrous could be overcome. Little else regarding the clan seems to matter to him, often going on heated rants that unless Luminax is done away with, even the clan's hidden little corner of the world will be left in ruins. And knowing how much the Pearlcatcher has lost, Sorien and his Court can only let him rant away in quiet sympathy.

Recently however, something has come up in Albus's research that has some within Sorien's Court taking pause. In his recollections with Aelius, the Pearlcatcher suddenly came to notice that two of Luminax's heads have an elemental disadvantage to water, remembering the incinerating flames and tearing winds. Albus has begun to believe with growing fervor that the key to defeating the Emperor is to locate the missing deity of the Tidelord. And despite the aggressive madness he brings this information with... the Court can't help but think he might actually be onto something.

The Imperial he'd been in confrontation with before Luminax's wake had been full of his own pride and disdain. Yet in the end, when untold horror forcefully shocked them out of their prejudice, it was Aelius that had leapt in to rescue him, and Albus doesn't know what to do about it. The Imperial's deeply personal devastation over Luminax's existence startled him, the Pearlcatcher only now realizing just how crushing it must be to believe your own deity has rejected you. Though they still regard each other sharply, Albus has found himself surprised how often he's heatedly spoken up in Aelius's defense, in what he's slowly struggling to admit has been his desperate attempt to say thank you.
