HISTORY
A cup smashes against the table and a pair of burning gold eyes of Earth glare out at the foolish Pearlcatcher that had spoken. "You've no idea what you're 'bout to start, mate."

"By the Four Eldest I don't! No Earth hatched, stone-footed Wildclaw could ever sail a barque as fine as mine and may the Shade damn you, I know you cheated with that hand!" By now the foolish Pearlcatcher had leaned her way across the table, her breath stinking heavily of rum and blue Lightning swirled eyes even more unfocused than they'd been when Maelga had first sighted her. A Captain of a ship ought know better, but the fool had been so deep in her cups that she'd barely laid down a hand at all.

Sure, it might technically be considered cheating since she'd known full well that the foolish dragon would lose, but Maelga was anything but an honest dragon. Honest dragons often wound up in ditches with their gold purses slashed by claws. Or worse. Shaff being honest for a lark.

She had things to do and a ship to secure. Couldn't very well call herself a Captain either if she didn't have a ship for her crew and currently, despite having a number of those close to her that were willing, she hadn't procured one. Until tonight.

A dainty paw full of delicate claws slammed the Pearlcatcher's muzzle down into her mug and a viciously sharp pale claw hooked beneath the poor beast's jaw. "Off your mark there, aren't ya lass? Wasn't any cheating I saw. All I saw was a poor drunken sod that agreed to a game they were unprepared for. But, go on, keep insulting my Captain. See where it gets you."

It comes as a hum in the ear of the other dragon, and though Maelga has long since gotten used to her best friend, soon to be First Mate's, humming lilt and grating tone of voice, many other dragons actively avoid Coatl in order to keep this exact thing from happening. That long tongue of Djali's all but caressing the poor drunken thing's ear as she whispers that hum straight into it. Too low for any away from the table to even hear it.

"We'll be havin' off with that barque now, if you don't mind." Maelga growls, her sharp claws digging a path across the wood of the table as she pulls herself up with them. As much a threat as her tone of voice. With the flick of one deadly claw, a gem twirls on the table, catching the eye of not just those around but the entire tavern. "For the drinks and entertainment. Best get yourself somewhere you an' yer crew can call home. Start a lair, even. Sailin's done for you."

She knew where her new ship was docked and had no problem kicking every dragon on it into the ocean if she had to in order to secure it for herself and her small crew.

Honest.

CHARACTER
Maelga and the word 'quiet' have never quite gone hand in claw. In fact, it should be stated that her name shouldn't even appear in the same sentence as the word quiet. The spunky Wildclaw is the furthest thing from quiet and has never once attempted to be. Not even when she's deep into her cups and about to lose a hand of cards, a time when any other dragonkind would be silent and listening. Certainly not this particular pirate captain.

A rank she bears with extreme pride and ego. It was a game she'd won her ship in and that less than honest win lead to a less than honest way of life. Something Maelga is extremely happy to tell anyone that asks. A habit that gets her mouth tied shut more often than any other captain on the seas of Sornieth can lay claim to.

Indeed, for a boisterous and loud Earth dragon to wind up the captain of her own ship, when she'd been nothing more than a very skilled pair of claws and talons back in her home clan, is impressive. But certainly not unique within her own crew or current Clan. Not now anyway. But her birth clan's violent and borderline insular habit of training every able bodied dragon to fight morphed the Wildclaw from the shell. Maelga's skills at fighting were what lead her to meet her navigator and sister, to gain her current crew. What wasn't to brag about?

It was what helped her meet her mate as well, the skill to gain crewmates and protect her crew long enough to sail into that area. Ever since Zephyr floated into her life, Maelga's past intensity has calmed, leaving her a bit more reserved than she had been before. Part of this can be attributed to her need to protect both her mate and her crew, but the main reason is due to her heart budging straight up into her throat the second the little Spiral is nearby.

Zephyr, in fact, is the only being on Sornieth and in fact the only thing in the whole world that could silence Maelga just by appearing. It brings the Spiral endless laughter and leaves the Wildclaw vehemently denying it, claws extended.

Despite being a Captain, with a capital 'C' even, Maelga is much more inclined to leave her crew to deal with the various day to day upkeep of the ship and crew. It's why she has them. She'd much rather be fighting or chasing after interesting things that catch her golden Earth eyes.

RELATIONSHIPS
Zephyr.png Zephyr | Mate
The gentlest and zaniest summer wind that ever could blow through a pirate's sails whipped into Maelga's life one day at sea. She'd been playing out along the cliffsides of the Reedcleft Ascent, zipping in and around, when the Spiral spotted their sails and sought out her ship. It was love at first sight for both of them, though it took quite some time to admit and act upon. Maelga always gets a flutter in her heart when Zephyr is around her.
Topograph.png Topograph | Sister/Navigator
Topograph has followed right beside Maelga since the moment that they met, for reasons that the Wildclaw still can't fathom. Because the moment they'd met, she'd attacked her! Her original clan's territory was always tightly guarded and she'd pulled duty that day, having no idea she was in for a fight with a massive Guardian. To this day there is debate over who won that fight.
Djali.png Djali | First Mate
Where Maelga burns hot and strikes violently in battle, Djali only simmers and bubbles. The Coatl has been friends with her forever and after living on a ship together for so long, they have a rhythm to their lives and stations. Djali is an instigator more often than not, always stirring Maelga into reckless and fun antics that always end with the rest of the crew attempting to stamp out their enthusiasm as soon as it begins.

STATS & ABILITIES
combat1-10.png
Few things are as dangerous as a properly trained fighter, especially when that fighter is a Wildclaw that can take your head off before you even notice she's there.
_______________________________________
vitality1-9.png
While Maelga certainly isn't a dragon of massive size or length, she does posses an incredibly stubborn fortitude. Even if she should be dead, she'd rather die standing and fighting than on the ground.
_______________________________________
magic1-0.png
With no magic to speak of and no training on how to build a foundation, this is the furthest thing from her mind.
_______________________________________
intelligence1-4.png
Idiot would be a dangerous word to throw around, for Maelga certainly isn't idiotic. She is, however, more inclined to allow those with greater minds to do the thinking when situations are dire.
_______________________________________
charisma1-10.png
You live on the Southern Ice Fields? Maelga could still likely sell you snow, even if you were standing on it. It's a gift.
_______________________________________
luck1-8.png
And every great gift comes about because of a strong luck, even if one doesn't believe such a thing to exist. Maelga has all the luck.
