Biography

Seaberry

Amnesia Was Her Name - Lemon Demon

Hex has a itty bitty, teensy tiny, little bit of a huge problem.

He maybe accidentally sort of created a magical shadow clone of himself? Just a little bit.

In his defense, he hadn’t meant to activate whatever the magical mirror spell thing was. He’d been searching the beach for some seaberries when he’d stumbled upon the sea cave, and had decided to investigate. How could he have known that touching the ominous-looking mirror standing in the middle of what was, in retrospect, clearly an ancient ritual chamber would result in the mirror cracking, releasing a bunch of shadow tendrils that pierced his chest, grabbed what he was pretty sure was a piece of his soul, and sucking it back into the mirror? He’d still been reeling from the feeling of some part of himself being ripped out when all of a sudden the shadows leaked back out of the mirror, oozing down onto the stone ground to form a thick puddle of ichor that had slowly drained away to reveal what looked like an identical copy of Hex himself.

Now, Hex isn’t the brightest dragon, he’s self-aware enough to acknowledge that, but even he could tell that whatever had just happened was probably not a good thing. But when the shadow copy had opened his eyes, looking so groggy and confused and lost, Hex had felt a wave of empathy for his doppelganger. He’d helped the other Tundra up, offered him some of his collected seaberries, and decided to take him home.

Hex realizes that whatever the spell was, it likely wasn’t good news, and that some day he’ll have to come clean with Karrow and tell him all about it. But for now, Karrow seems content not to question things, and Hex is fine with leaving things be. Their strange link is a little bit off-putting, sure, but it doesn’t seem to be hurting anyone, and therefore Hex is going to ignore it to the best of his ability.

Surely it won’t come back to bite him, right?
