Biography
Eden
"If you consider an unsuccessful hunt to be a waste of time, then the true meaning of the chase eludes you all together."
Clan Founder/Hunter
"If you consider an unsuccessful hunt to be a waste of time, then the true meaning of the chase eludes you all together."
Clan Founder/Hunter
As he drags a bundle of food through the shallows of the Sea, he watches his Clan dive and play in the water. The Clan Guardians are settled on rocky pinnacles to oversee the fun, ensuring no one finds themselves in trouble.
Out of the water, he sees Lovecraft holding court with his cultists. They sit around him in a half-circle, their eyes alight. Past them, his bulk hidden by the shadows, is Bevan. His eyes and ears are trained on the Plague Acolyte.
He pauses in his task, taking a moment to breathe in the salted air. He looks to the horizon, where a dark haze marks the border between the Sea and the Tangled Wood. As he stares into the distance, his mind stirs up memories.
He limps through the brambles and thorns, trying to find the trail back home. His Pack has moved on, but the lair is still empty. Until his leg heals, he'll need the shelter.
As he scrambles under a log, he hears a voice call out to him. He turns sharply, snarling a warning. He may be weak, but he will not go down without a fight.
A female Guardian is staring at him from the gloom. Her blue scales shimmer in the dim light of the luminescent fungi.
It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Together, they built a Family. They allied with another clan from the Windswept Plateau. And made the journey together from the depths of the Wispwillow Grove to the Fishspine Reef.
But their story together was cut short by a stray arrow. And Josephine was claimed by the Tidelord.
He was left alone to govern the Clan alone. It was a burden he accepted, though his heart yearned to run and hunt for his Family.
When Lovecraft challenged him, he almost welcomed the change in leadership. He would have stepped down if he hadn't known of Lovecraft's plans and machinations.
But instead of letting the Imperial lead the Clan to ruin, he fought the Acolyte with tooth and claw until another stepped in...
He shakes his head to clear his thoughts and searches the rocks for the Guardian who reminds him so much of his old friend. He finds her, near the top of the spires, nestled against her mate.
Brandr has made a fine leader and will continue to do so for many years. With her councilors at her back, he doubts anything will manage to overcome the Strand. And he will be free to stay with the Hunt, a provider as he was always meant to be.
