MALICE STRIKER
the Nidhoggr of Niflheim

"O Nidhoggr, undead dragon of ice
Sealed unto hell, eating life as your vice
Doomed are the realms, the day you chew free
From your shackles deep within the World's tree."

Ginnungagap (the Yawning Void) was the vast, primordial void that existed prior to the creation of the manifest universe. In the north lay the intense cold of Niflheim, to the southern part lay the equally intense heat of Muspelheim. When the two elemental worlds mixed, the melting of Niflheim's ice created water, and eventually lead to the creation of Midgard, the realm of man.

Among the creatures who dwelled within the frozen underworld was Nidhoggr ("Malice Striker"), a dragon who perpetually gnawed at the roots of Yggdrasill, the sacred ash tree whose branches extended into the heavens. Some believed that the roots imprisoned the dragon, keeping it from the world. The beast sustained itself by feeding on corpses, souls of the fallen, and blood from the living.

Prophecies had predicted that the arrival of Nidhoggr heralds Ragnarok, a series of major events which includes a great battle foretold to ultimately result in the death of a number of major Asgardians, the occurrence of various natural disasters, and the subsequent submersion of the world in water. Afterward, the world would resurface anew and fertile, the surviving gods would meet, and the world would be repopulated by two human survivors.

Because of the daunting prophecy, Asgard became distraught when Nidhoggr at last chewed its way through the great tree's roots. The dragon flew across the realms, said to be carrying the dead bodies of men on its wings as it headed for Asgard. When it arrived, panic broke out and the gods charged into battle with the Ice Devil. However, the dragon was too strong a destructive force, and it wasn't until Odin himself stepped in that it was stopped.

Unable to truly kill the beast, Odin decided to cast the dragon to the mortal realm of Midgard, reducing it to a mere human form and stripping it of its great power. This would hopefully prevent the Devil from committing any sort of act catastrophic enough to set off the events that may lead to Ragnarok. Now a beautiful, kind azure-haired female among humans, they claim she is merely waiting for the chance to rise back into the heavens and reclaim her true power.
